And I'm headed straight for it.

Because I have a Wincest drabble to post for Sam Winchester's birthday, some J2/Wincest... stuff (I'm not sure what genre name to use: not porn, not fluff, not quite drama but a wee bit of angst -- oh, Dean) that's half-written, and hockey slash that will need a beta shortly.

So. To the point.

HELP! My French is school-learned and passable for a tourist, but not really fluent.

If a French-Canadian person were to say 'fuck' or 'dammit', what word would they use?

Baiser = to fuck, but I don't know if that's the appropriate usage. Nique! (?)

Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

Yeah... don't know about the baiser usage there. If you mean 'Damn!' or 'Fuck!' maybe try 'Zut!' or 'Bordel!' or 'Merde!' One can always use various conjugations of foutre. Hope that can be of some use to you.

Posted!

The other thing is almost written, but only half typed. Maybe tonight I'll get it closer to something that can be sent for your opinion. I'm sorta iffy on the Dean side of things. :)

Dean's hard.

:P

I mean, his character is difficult to get a hold on sometimes.

Odd, my French dictionary says baiser means kiss. It even gives the example "baiser quelqu'un à la joue" = "to kiss someone's cheek". So unless French kissing is dirtier than I thought...

It does mean to kiss but contextually, it can be made to be quite vulgar. Just one of those language things.

Fries are the only thing French I know. But yeah to the Wincest love. Wrawr. I'm currently writing my wolf moon challenge fic, which is Wincest.

Great minds think alike:)

I resisted Supernatural for as long as I could, but in the end I succumbed. They're just so... hot. Yeah, no other word for it. Smokin' hot, together or apart. :)

I was hooked from the first episode I saw. Dean is just...he gets the blood moving:)

Which one is your favourite? Or do you like them equally?

Another Dean fan, here. It's weird, 'cause I usually like the geeky smart guys, so I thought for sure I'd be all about Sam when I started reading and watching. Because, yeah, Jared Padalecki? Not too shabby.

But no. Definitely Dean. Probably partly influenced by the fact that Jensen Ackles is enough to make me spontaneously combust. I'd go back and watch old episodes of Days of Our Lives just to see him. :)

Sure, where was he when I used to watch Days of Our Lives. Okay, I watched it. I worked in a small business and the two owners were women hooked on the show. I had no choice...yeah no choice.

They are both just - guh! But there is something about Dean that makes me want to drop to the floor and obey. Okay, I guess that means I've had one to many tonight.

And here is my favourite Dean icon:D

A French Canadian would say "Tabernac!"

The direct translation is something to the effect of taking the word tabernacle in vain, but it's usage is quite common. French swears tend to be about things in the Catholic church where as English swearing revolves more around bodily functions... of course with the exception of Merde (which means shit).

For a direct exclaimation, I would go with Tabernac, or perhaps Calisse (generally pronounced as Callees) though something more convaluted might be better for cursing a blue streak.

Hope this helps. I've heard my best friend dispensing vitriol at the world in general often enough. Swearing always sounds better in French. If you need more, I could always drop him a line to ask about it.

Hmm, so if he were going to say something like, "I'm so screwed" what would be the equivalent?

*sigh*

Context and language difference, oy!

Tabernac is the strongest/worst swear I know if in Québeqois. You could use it, though I would be more inclined to go with 'O, Colisse' which literally means 'oh challace' (weird I know) or 'Ah, Mon Dieu' which is 'Oh my God'.

I usually hear both of them with little words like Oh or Ah at the beginning, though in both cases they are not really necessary. Most of the time René says these things on a groan or in a whine. Tabernac is said forcefully like 'fuck!'

Context is key. You should see what passes for swears in Chinese!
