rackhair), but is Volpe different from other band dudes in a quantifiable way that somehow strikes your fourth wall issues? I've only talked to him once, when I had him sign the pillowcase with his face on it. So I think that interaction was pretty much destined to be creepy and thus I have no basis for comparison.no subject
Date: 2010-10-01 04:00 am (UTC)IDK, I've met some other bands, and with a few notable exceptions, I usually feel more comfortable with a solid wall between me as a fan and them as a performer. Sign my CD or set-list if you would, pls, be polite, but that's it, kthnxbai. And this is not just band-related. I went to Fangoria a couple of years ago and some friends had an extra pass for a photo op with Jared Padalecki, and I just did not want to meet him. Did not want to blur the real life impression of him with my "fanon" impression of him and his Sam Winchester persona.

Not that I've ever had many interactions that wouldn't qualify as fan/performer (with the exception of LynZ and maybe the drummer for Girl in a Coma). It's especially awkward for me if I am in any way sexually attracted to the performer that I'm meeting. That shit is awful for me. I can't even handle it. I basically act stupid and then run away. So I like to avoid that, generally speaking...
