thank fuck this week is over

Because it's been pretty wretched.

My day got completely fucked when the sample elevator for the gamma radiation source got stuck. One experiment completely ruined, three more down the drain if it's not fixed by Tuesday. Which, what repair company is going to mess with engine parts that are down inside a cesium source? NRGH.

So I rearranged things, and I spent an hour discussing experiments with my boss before he left (for a two-week trip to France), and I'm trying to figure out this stupid cell/colony sorting software that is NOT intuitively obvious and came with a manual written by someone who is a software engineer, not a scientific end-user (re: not user-friendly), getting more and more frustrated that each time I ran the same data file I got different answers.

I finally shut things down and headed out to the train platform, only to get stuck in the rain. Without an umbrella. Awesome.

You know, I still don't understand: storms like this happen in Houston all the time, but people STILL don't know how to drive in them. ?

WHY YES, IT'S AN EXCELLENT IDEA TO GO FROM 65 MPH TO 25 MPH WITH NO WARNING BECAUSE OF SOME RAIN. REALLY. AND TO DRIVE AT TWILIGHT IN MISTY RAIN WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS. VERY SAFE.

So I was in a FINE mood by the time I got home.

But. My copy of War was here when I arrived. And the internets gave me this, which goes some way to alleviating my crankiness.

Shoulders. COLLARBONES.

I am ordering a pizza so I don't have to cook, and I'm opening some wine or some cider. A lot of wine and/or cider.

Next week is going to be better, right? RIGHT.

This week is totally fired from my life. Next week had better be better or I'm gonna blow something up.

You get NYC and harriet_vane next week, right? That's guaranteed awesomeness.

Also, three fucking weeks. I am seriously seriously beyond overdue for some fangirl times. I cannot deal with this nonsense.

We got fast food, and I'm not supposed to drink, so I had ice cream. (even though I am sooooooo tempted to get drunk and say fuck the world, omg.)

YES! All day today I kept telling myself, "This time next week you'll be touring the Statue of Liberty with vic_ramsey, or getting ready to go ogle Stark Sands and Christina Sajous in American Idiot. Just suck it UP."

Mmmm, ice cream. I had some really yummy Ben & Jerry's the other day, it was maple-flavored.

Second - Next week is going to be AMAZING. STARK. I have intentionally stayed unspoiled for AI (well, not the music) and am so excited. I found a setlist from the Chicago show that said he would be performing She Likes Hairbands. I might be a little sad that no Day/Months/Years is on there. I love that song so much.

:D :D :D I love Three Kids In Brooklyn. And he opened with ATL last time I saw him. I am sort of surprised that Canyons isn't on there b/c he used to always close with it. But maybe he's changed that up.
