Dear New Student:

a) Blow your damned nose. Snorting phlegm is gross under any circumstances, but doing it every minute or so is disgusting and annoying.

b) If your pants hang off your ass so that your boxers are exposed, you can always TIGHTEN YOUR BELT, and it will hold them on your hips. Otherwise, what's the point of the belt? In any case, I neither need nor want to see your plaid boxers bent over next to my bench.

c) Do not - DO NOT - ever again let me catch you putting an empty bottle back into the refrigerator or on the shelf. We will have words.

I just found out that my boss sees absolutely nothing wrong with giving me a class of 50 12 and 13 y.o.s. See, the other teachers quit, so lets dump on Miriam... O.o

All three things are obnoxious, but good god the phlegm thing is the worst! There are about 3 people at work who sit near me doing that constantly right now. It's absolutely disgusting.

I can understand if his hands are full or he's busy or something. But he does it ALL THE TIME. Even if he's just sitting at his desk, reading.

My iPod and earbuds are my favorite pieces of lab equipment right now.

Ahh, a subject that my current head cold has made near and dear to my heart... I do the phlegm-snorting thing you describe, and yes it is deeply gross, but the thing you should realize is that, at least in my case, the behavior stems from having actual physical issues with the nose and sinuses that makes blowing my nose messy and ineffective at best, downright painful at worst. I can either snort phlegm, or I can walk around with a tissue wedged in my nostrils to prevent snot from dripping, but that's about where I run out of options when I'm stuck having to take my head cold out into a crowd... Honestly, I would have to question whether anyone ever actually snorts phlegm back up into their head (and DOWN THEIR THROAT) by choice, y'know? I know I wouldn't.

But as for the rest, it sounds like someone needs to get this young whippersnapper on the right track NOW, before sloppiness becomes a habit.
