+ The Cranberries? Really? :DD

+ Unpopular opinion: I am not really excited about The Young Veins. Mostly because I wasn't impressed with the single they released, but also because I am not particularly fond of Ryan Ross's voice.

+ I am irrationally annoyed by the shifting POV in The Secret History of The Pink Carnation. First it's 1st person, then it's 3rd person shifting mid-scene between the hero and heroine. Eh.

+ HS AU and girl!Brendon need to get out of my head so I can think about other things for a while.

+ Watching the New Perspective video repeatedly is not helping with the last item.

I agree wholeheartedly with that unpopular opinion.

The Secret History books got more and more annoying as I went along. No, wait; I liked the second one better, and then the third one made me so angry I threw it away.

HS AU needs to be written, is what it needs.

*sigh*

I think the HS AU won't leave me alone until it IS written, rather than being relegated to the massive WIP folder on my laptop.

Ugh. They get MORE annoying? I might have to stop when I finish this one, then. I am really impatient with the non-fanfic fiction I read lately. I don't know if I've gotten spoiled by having my whims catered to in fandom or just being unreasonably picky.

I wish I could be sympathetic, but I am making signs that say TEAM COOL SENIOR MARK over here.

I really didn't like the way the book tried to shoehorn chicklit onto what was already a romance novel. And I super didn't like that in the framing story the guy's a douche and the chick's an idiot.

This is where lj-ing about everything I read comes in handy, apparently I wrote Complaint #2: Ms. Willig, this is your third book. LEARN WHAT POINT OF VIEW MEANS. Within one scene she'll jump from the heroine's POV to the hero's and back, with no warning. I had whiplash. I was frequently confused about what was going on and why, because I couldn't work out who was narrating. I know it's limiting to stick to one person's head per scene, but THAT'S HOW IT WORKS. My god. My review of the first one is "ehhhh" bordering on "blah." I really wanted to like them, and I just didn't.

My question about the entire premise, which maybe will be answered if I read further, is why, if Mrs. Selwick-Alderly had all this info and the spies of that area were so fascinating, did she give them to some random American person (who, boo-hoo, went to London and was surprised when it rained and ruined her Jimmy Choos) who happened to send her a note. No one inquired before?

Apparently it's all terribly obscure, except for how it's incredibly famous.

I still haven't listened to whatever YV released? I obviously win. Plus, I'm kinda biased and just wanna listen to Brendon.

+ HS AU and girl!Brendon need to get out of my head so I can think about other things for a while.

Other things exist?

It's funny b/c I still follow Ryan and Jon on twitter (although I'm not sure why), but I don't get all flaily and excited when they tweet at each other or at Alex. And partly it's because Ryan was always my least favorite Disco (my general opinion of him has long been "could he be more pretentious if he tried?"), but it's also because I just don't care for his voice. Behind The Sea is one of my least favorite songs on PO, and I'm not interested in an entire album of it. Plus, they sounded, musically, like they didn't have anything of their own, it was even more borrowed than some parts of PO were, to my ear.

Apparently other things do NOT exist, right now.

Ryan was always my least favorite too, and I still love JWalk, but I don't miss him as much as a good fangirl should. All about the Brendon and Spencer. and Zack.

What can I do to shamelessly encourage both girl!Bren and hs au?

That is because Zack is awesome.

Make me step away from the computer and put pen to paper. Right now. Instead of allowing it to grow in my head the way the girl!Brendon backstory has, to the point that I know more than I will ever write, and can't write b/c then I'd have to explain too much backstory.

STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER, HEATHER!!

Also, help me figure out where I stuck the boys' birth certificates. I need them to enroll the boys in their new daycare, but I haven't seen them since I signed Davey up for kindergarten two years ago... :P

Um... in a box in the closet? In the pile of Very Important Papers on top of the fridge?

YES, PLS. AND NO 1st PERSON. I find it incredibly hard to sympathize with any narrator in the 1st person, even when the writing is well done.
