I read an interview with Rise Against recently where they discuss the new album and talk about how some of the music was inspired by My Chemical Romance, with whom they enjoyed touring very much in 2007. And now I can't find it. Anyone know the interview I'm talking about?

Also? The video of Re-education (Through Labor) was released today. I am currently making ♥__♥ at Tim McIlrath on my monitor for quoting JFK at us.

I thought it was particularly appropriate given the arrests of some activists at the RNC who are now being charged with MN's equivalent of the PATRIOT Act. They didn't DO anything - they were arrested for conspiring to aid and support protesters by coordinating places to stay, child care, providing maps and suggestions for places to stage protest.

(These charges might have been dropped since - I know the reporters who were arrested have since had all charges dropped. But the idea that nonviolent protest can be squelched because helping to do so is a felony is chilling.)

Oh, I totally agree with you and I was riveted because I didn't know what precisely they were stuffing in their bags.

It was just a very bold statement. I'm interested in the general reaction to it (is it on MTV or anywhere?) and also the way that the quote at the beginning makes it read a cautionary tale.

It's definitely, in the current social-political-economical climate very timely.

It is available on MTV2's website, and it's supposed to be playing on MTV-U, but I don't get that channel, so I don't know how often it's shown. I would be *very* curious to hear the general reaction to this video. They've always been really political, but I think this video is bolder than previous ones.
