Title: A not-so-impartial observer's thoughts
Rating: PG13, I guess
Warnings: incest
Prompt: Set 50.4, lovers, #28 of the
100quills prompt set
Words: 200
I have no idea why I didn't see it before. It's so obvious: a brush of a hand here, the jostle of a shoulder or hip there, comments that have a surface meaning and a deeper one.
To a casual observer, they are simply twins, two brothers who are unusually close by birth, by genetics, and by choice. Even their family finds nothing odd in their affection. Mostly. I have my doubts about Mr Weasley; occasionally he watches Fred and George closely, with poorly hidden concern.
Ron doesn't know, I'm fairly certain. Ginny definitely doesn't. I doubt that the older siblings realize either.
People see what they expect, really.
Watching them now, curled up, comfortable in each other's arms, I can see them as they really are: lovers. The first time I saw them together, I wondered how I could have missed it.
They almost make me wish for someone who belongs to me, as they belong to each other.
"Harry?"
The kiss they were sharing has ended, although they have not untangled their entwined limbs. George is looking at me now, and his voice is low, inviting.
Until I find that someone, it's an invitation I'm happy to accept.
