I've been feeling sort off, had a fever last night, so I emailed my boss that I wasn't feeling well, took NyQuil, and meant to go back to bed. But instead I'm trolling the internet.

a. Fuck yeah, Ecuador.

b. Darling husband, please don't make me argue about how the Nike "gold digging" t-shirts are sexist bullshit. Don't tell me that the gold-medal beach volleyball team has diggers on it, so that makes them okay. That's not who this is marketed for.

c. ;__; Rafa.

d. They're everywhere - I'm glad I saw them before they got this big, really - and it's still a creepy song (it's totally on my "this song is not as cheerful as you think" playlist, with Every Breath You Take, Pumped Up Kicks, and Make Damn Sure, but here's fun. doing We Are Young the other night on the Colbert Report. DAMN, JACK. Also, that smirk on Nate's face at the end, when the crowd is singing the lyrics. Like, "Yes, this is how I expect crowds to be: knowing ALLLLL MY LYRICS.

e. LOL, Yardbarker making me all cranky. PK Subban is not a "pretty dirty player", he's not any cockier than any other NHL player, and fuck you for making the unspoken but obvious comparison to Chris Pronger. I didn't realize I hadsuch strong feelings about RL!PK until I read that in my news feed.

Seriously, if one of my other fandoms doesn't start making news soon, I am going to drown in NHL preseason angst. Will they lock out? Will the NHLPA and the owners come to an agreement? Will the Habs come to their senses and make PK Subban a better offer? What are the Pens and the Devils going to do to fill the voids left by their off-season losses and machinations?

Things that made me :DDD in the last 24 hours:

1. MCR (as seen pretty much all over my f-list). THANK YOU. I was beginning to fear that we'd NEVER get the new album. Mikeyway working the blond! Geeway and that fuschia mess (if ever there were a hot mess, he is it in the vid)! Frankie's all long-haired and hot again! (NGL, I totally would've lost Iero sex-chicken while he was in Leathermouth mode, but apparently becoming a daddy of twins is working out well for him.)

2. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

3. BRMC released a live session at iTunes. (Also, I get to see them twice this week.)

4. Luuuuuudo in less than one week.

Things that made me :D then :(

1. The Dear Jack Foundation First Annual Benefit Concert was announced. This is a charity that I definitely support for a variety of reasons, and both Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate will be performing so I'd love to go, but it's in LA, on a date that I absolutely cannot travel.

Things that made me >:/

1. Work. Dear Tutorial Grad Student: I should not have to tell you to put some damn gloves on EVERY OTHER MINUTE. Also, if you've weighed something out and it's too much, DO NOT put it back into the reagent bottle, especially if it's touched a surface you touched with your bare, naked fingers. And FYI, that thing you just weighed out is a neurotoxin in high enough quantities. I WASN'T KIDDING WHEN I TOLD YOU TO PUT ON SOME EFFIN' GLOVES.

2. Work. Yes, I'm listing it twice. Because I'm just that annoyed by the introduction of a new student for me to guide on a project that does not dovetail with mine AT ALL, at a time when The Chief is pushing me to finish the last replicates of experiments so we can get another paper out before the end of October.

3. I'm taking the Snowflake for service (again) tomorrow. More $$$ unbudgeted. The air-conditioning is blowing hot air. Which wouldn't be a big deal except this is Houston in September, and it's still supposed to be over 90F for the next week, at least.

I am supposed to be doing something chore-related, but the washer and dryer are both full, and the kitchen is still occupied by a crazy man with hops and boiling malt, so I'm doing the icon meme-thing.

[livejournal.com profile] harriet_vane picked six icons, and if you comment, I'll pick six of yours to explain. :D )

+ Watching the rebroadcast of Green Day on TCR. I really enjoy the way they are random enough in their answers that Stephen Colbert can't drive the interview the way he usually does.

+ Also? Billie Joe Armstrong's tiny pointy teeth are even creepier than Gerard Way's.

+ It is inconvenient that iPhone's software doesn't allow txt forwarding. Even more annoying? I lost ~200 text messages worth of fic when I switched out phones. >:/

+ They Just HOWL is available for download now. &empires;

Am busy flailing.

Over the election results.

And over Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert on screen together again.
asimplechord: (Kiss)
I sort of love John Edwards (and Stephen Colbert and TCR's writers) even more right this very moment.

And Amy Goodman and independent media. (Seriously. I want to be like her when I grow up.)

And there's all sorts of other stuff I meant to post about, but I'm drawing a total blank right this very second.

Michael Stipe + Stephen Colbert might be my new OTP.

Just saying.

Also, there was a dearth of purple scarf, but I think Reid's sweater made up for it. And he--they--REID! And Garcia wins. I can't imagine Criminal Minds without her, and her character was supposed to be male, something else entirely, but Kirsten Vangness totally made it her own.

Hey! Frederic Lane (Frederic Lehne, whatever spelling he's using just now) is on tonight's episode of Criminal Minds!

After Jim Weaver a few weeks ago. Jared and Jensen next, please?

ETA: Oh goodgods, Stephen Colbert SexyBack. *covers eyes*

TDS and TCR RETURN(ED)!

YES!

I might have been suffering withdrawal. Slightly. Rebroadcasts just aren't the same. How many times can one watch Barack Obama being bland and Republican-Lite, after all?
asimplechord: (fangirls died)
Not really, 'cause you know one of my girl-crushes is on Amy Goodman (she's so earnest and serious and dorky, you knew that was coming), and two of the people I worship are are Robert Fisk and Bill Moyers, right?

Bill Moyers called Jon Stewart the Mark Twain of his time.

And I don't read Lethem, but Jenkins' explication of his invitation to slash (and advertisement of the Colbert challenge) make me want to.

And while we're on the fake news thing... did McCain come off as desperate last night on TDS, or what? The man is seriously deranged, with only a thread holding him together.

Hey!

Just a fly-by before we pile stuff into bags and take the car to Austin.

TCR? Awesome.

We were in the front row. More details later. :)

If anybody's interested, the Houston Chrony's running a blog for the Houston-Austin MS150 this year. That's where I'll be for the next couple of days. The ride, not the blog.
asimplechord: (No fact zone)
I'm completely behind on reading my f-list (I haven't read any of the Games, and I've read precious few personal posts since Saturday morning), and it's about to get worse.

I leave after work for NYC. OHYES: J and I will be in the audience for the Colbert vs. Penn Metaphor Off tomorrow night.

My flight back Friday gets me home in time to do a car-pool thing to Austin to leave a vehicle there for after the MS150. The big bike ride starts at the ass-crack of dawn on Saturday, and we should be in Austin by early afternoon on Sunday.

So. I've got stuff to edit tucked in my carry-on. Book to read. Stuff to write.

Have a good rest of the week, folks. I'll miss you. Already do, really. ♥

And I wasn't going to link to this, but I find I can't restrain myself. Freakin' ScAlito Bloc on SCOTUS. NOT COOL.
