My laptop battery died last night. Which, you know, you'd think that if I plugged it in to an AC power supply, it'd reboot and life would go on. So that's what I did: plugged it in last night and left it alone.

But when I tried to boot it again this morning? I got a blank white screen. Not even the blue screen of death. A blank. white. screen.

Fuck. I had ~700 words of my YAGKYAS fic written but not saved, open when the battery crapped out. Yes, it's outlined. But that was dialogue I will never get back. Dammit.

I have a print-out of the fic I'm beta-ing, and I can always boot my (not used in over a year) Mac Mini to return those edits to the author.

Why, life? On top of work and the holidays (b/c y'all know how I feel about the upcoming holidays, right?) and worry about family members, I really did not need another stressor.

♥ It's fixed. I took it to the Apple Store, and the dude there took the battery out and reset the SMC, et voila! But the battery is still super-dead, so it has be plugged in at all times.

And you're fixed, mostly! :D That's even BETTER.
