I assume that's where we're going with that ending, yes? Y/Y/MFY?

a) Vampire movie wherein the vampires do not sparkle, are not seductive or appealing in any way.
b) Karl Urban
c) Paul Bettany
d) I would read the hell out of Priestess/Priest UST/unrequited love *points at their names*
e) Did I mention Paul Bettany? And Karl Urban?

(I had a moment where I thought that Stephen Moyer (Owen) looked like Dallon Weekes. And then I laughed at myself for not recognizing the actor immediately, because I must be the only person IN THE WORLD left who doesn't watch True Blood because I can't stand Sookie or Bill as characters, in the books or on TV.)

The trailer for Straw Dogs was one of the previews. Why, ASkars? Why do you have to hurt me by looking so damn fine in that misogynistic excuse for a movie that glorifies rape and portrays the locals as backwards and violent?

I'm checking this movie out tomorrow :) I also don't watch True Blood, I tried once, to read the books and to watch the show and was all just....meh.

I enjoyed Priest a lot for what it is: an adaptation of a graphic novel about vampires. And Paul Bettany. And the clear differences it delineates between church and faith, which to me are two very different things.

Ugh, I read the books early on, but Sookie made me so angry - she's a hypocrite and a Mary Sue - that I had to stop. Then I re-read a bunch of them when I had some time off, thinking I'd maybe see something I'd missed before, but no. No amount of eye-candy on screen can make up for the waste of my time when there's other stuff to be doing/watching.

I'm not expecting shakespeare, and I have a free pass, so it seems worth the price of admission.

Is Straw Dogs a remake of a Dustin Hoffman movie?

Yes, it's a remake. Set in rural US rather than UK.

I can't stand Sookie in the books, but I watched like all of TB in one weekend at the end of last summer. It was like a trainwreck. Lol.

You're not the first person I've heard those types of thoughts from about Straw Dogs.

Paul Bettany + Karl Urban + vampires that don't sparkle mean I love that movie without even seeing it yet.

I'm sure that ASkars et al do some fabulous acting, but he is not enough to make me sit for two hours through violence and brutalization.

I've considered watching TB. But each time I've tried, I get about 5 minutes in and if there's no Eric or Pam on screen, my attention wanders. Such a hot mess.

You had me at "Karl Urban". X-)

I didn't know Priest was a vampire movie. I knew nothing about it beyond the name - and that only stood out to me because I keep scoffing and thinking no, not THAT Priest (though dear gods, I would pay double the ticket price to see Karl Urban and Paul Bethany doing THAT! *leer*). Now knowing more about it (c.f. Karl Urban), this is definitely on the must-see list. Heh.

Oh, and I'm another person in the world who's never seen (nor read) True Blood. I saw one (deleted, I think) scene at a friend's house 'cos they were banging on about it and it looked... like a tv show. *shrug*

It's not a deep movie, and I did not have high expectations - I mostly just wanted to see some fighting, and this fit that bill. Action based on a graphic novel. So no deep plot. Just, you know, vampires fighting to take over the world. And actors I like to watch on screen. Although, yeah, if Bettany and Urban wanted to enact that other Priest scene, I'd be alright with it. ;)

OK, there are more non-True Blood fans than I thought! Somehow it seemed like half of my f-list and just as many RL friends were following the show, and I tried to watch but it was such a hot mess I couldn't.

As is their wont. *nodding* I think I can get behind that. In fact, I know I can. :)

We lost one of our good SPN writers (Raelle Rucker) to TB, didn't we? They suck.

Vampires and humans: natural competitors for supremacy. Can't we all just get along?

LOL, yes, yes they do suck! Sorry, sorry, yes, Raelle Tucker writes for TB. That gave me some hope, but I haven't been able to sit through more than 5 minutes of an episode without rolling my eyes and turning the TV off, so I don't think I ever got to any of her episodes.

So, just to recap? Karl Urban, Paul Bettany and vampires? *____* JFC, I AM THERE.

I haven't seen the trailer for Straw Dogs yet. Which is definitely a good thing. Sorry, ASkars, I'll just wait until you're back in True Blood in all its ridiculous glory.

Creepily not-seductive vampires, even. :)

I'm holding out for Battleship. :D :D :D

Me and my sister have plans to eventually go see Priest. I'm happy to hear that it's good!

It physically pains me how ridiculously good ASkars looks in that trailer. PHYSICAL PAIN.

Seriously, I will ogle all the still photos in the world, because he looks GOOD. But no, just no to that movie. I remain convinced that he picks these projects deliberately, to keep from gaining too much popularity.
