<3333 Amy Ray and Emily Saliers. I don't know what more to say about them.

Random Supernatural rant:

I'm reading John Winchester's Journal. At one point, he notes that only rock salt is good for protecting from spirits, not iodized, because it (iodized salt) "contains impurities".

Dear Alex Irvine,

Ask a scientist (or fucking Google it) before you write shit you don't know. Rock salt? IMPURE. Mostly NaCl cocrystallized with sulfates and other ions. INCLUDING IODIDE.

Iodized salt? NaCl + trace amounts of NaI or KI. More pure.

No love,
Me

<3333 YOU.

Did you really expect a television show to be accurate? Although, maybe that's an intentional inaccuracies; maybe Hunter Lore claims rock salt is more pure? *makes shit up*

The thing I really don't understand is that when they pour a bunch of salt on the show? It just looks like SALT. It doesn't look like the larger crystals of rock salt that I've bought for recipes.

So is that a difference between the writer of the book and the TV, or just not fact checking?

I think it's just not fact checking. Also, in the show? Dean mentions rocksalt, but you're right that it's always just SALT that they use. Unless they use rocksalt in their ammunition.

I assume rocksalt is better in ammunition because it's more pellet-y than table salt. But I don't know. Eh. I get stuck on details.

Yeah, that would kinda make sense to use it in the ammunition.

Mom & I were watching something the other night and I don't remember what exactly happened, but I remember telling mom it was a good thing it wasn't a show that you watch b/c you would have been freaking out over how WRONG AND IMPLAUSIBLE whatever it was. (I don't even know what show it was, but I was amused at the time.)

You back at work today?

Yes. :(

My phone battery is dead. And I've got a few hours of work. Then home, and I'll watch Criminal Minds. And maybe ponder more Brendon/Spencer? IDK, I'm sort of charmed by the idea of Spencer doing some pining, and Brendon being clueless. But if he KNEW Spencer was pining, he'd be totally down with sexytimes to go along with the cuddling.

Oh Brendon. <3

Boo for your phone battery being dead! Do you get a three day weekend b/c of the holiday?

M'yeah, but I'll probably come in to harvest cells on Monday. We don't really have plans for the holiday, anyway.

(I can't find the car-charger for it, or I would have charged it on the drive here. While we sat in traffic from a five-car pileup on the freeway. >:/)

We've got a full weekend planned. I have to remember to keep my phone charged.

:D Glad to entertain.

I am so glad that I'm in a place (geographically and in my life) that regular happy music posts are POSSIBLE. I spent so much time as a student unable to afford the time or money to see many shows, and live music really IS a wonderful thing to have in your life.

I grew up mostly in a small city with a pretty well-respected Music and Arts festival every year. Between that and the free music every Friday night in the summer, I've seen more bands etc., than I could name. Live music really is an important, wonderful thing to have.

What I've really discovered in recent years is that there is a huge difference in experiencing living music, which is awesome, and choosing to go see artists and shows that you want to see. That's where I've had the biggest change. It's such a different, amazing feeling to be able to see a band perform live when you're a fan of the band. What a rush. What a wonderful time. :D
