1. Random stranger sat down next to me on the light rail and started talking to me about the book I was reading (Lawrence Lessig's The Future Of Ideas: "Oh, that looks serious. Is it?").

a) I had my iPod earbuds in my ears and an open book in my hands, which are clear signs that I'm not interested in idle chatter.

b) Unless you're *with* someone, you do not just start conversation on the commuter rail. It's just one of those things, and as far as I can tell (from SLC to Chicago to DC) it's pretty universal. Public transportation faux pas, okay?

2. Dear Fandom,
Please keep amusing me with (y)our over-invested ideas and interpretation of public twitters (without considering that it's entirely possible that they're communicating OFF twitter). Honestly, this almost as good as the OMG-they're-so-mean-to-Bden-the-band-is-going-to-break-up flailing that happened when the PR stuff for Pretty.Odd went down last year. And as far as I can see in the pics Shane's posted? Panic is still Discoing.

3. Again, fandom: I don't understand outrage about last week's SPN episode. If we can't laugh at our obsessions, maybe we *are* that creepy.

4. 11 DAYS!

1. I HATE when people try to talk to me on the bus! Especially in the morning, ugh.

3. I thought last week's episode was hilarious! And it was a really welcome change from ANGELS and TEARS and NEW!RUBY.

OMG, I laughed SO HARD when the comment about seeing Dean cry was made. Because, seriously, whenever he has an emotional scene, I verbally count down to the single, poignant tear-roll. Dean might not cry a lot, volume-wise, but he does cry that single tear on a regular basis. (Why doesn't Sam ever cry? I want a Sam-crying episode!)

Ugh. Just, why? It's not even like I knew him; it was some random dude. Plus, hey, hi, I hadn't yet had enough coffee to deal with people being cheerful.

I just realized you might have meant April 2nd's episode, which I haven't seen yet! But UGH. Dean is supposed to be TOUGH and shit, or whatever. IDK. I like it when he doesn't cry. And yeah, I'd expect Sam to cry!

I haven't seen the new spn yet.

Also, I love fandom, but it is full of crazies.

This week cannot pass fast enough, seriously!!!!

Some fun was poked at fandom and Wincest. Which, on top of J&J's comments about being tired of SPN, made people generally cranky. But honestly? I thought it was funny.

Last week's SPN was one of the best 42 minutes of television EVER. People need to STFU. :)

I laughed until I choked during the fandom-related scenes. And Aaron just shook his head at me. ;)

People in ATL do actually start up random conversations in random places. I have to some extent picked up this habit. I am in deep trouble if I ever move to a normal city.

As for Twitter... the thing about it is, the candor it seems to inspire in celebrity-types runs the risk of convincing fan-types that they have more intimate knowledge about their stars than they really do. It's easy to imagine that you're privy to the deepest secrets and KNOW what's going on. Alternatively, it can be fun to just theorize and hypothesize and what-if as if it were all a fanfic (which, really, it is - Twitter being no more reliable an indicator of true facts than any other part of the public image). But I'm a bit concerned that someday some unbalanced fan is going to be persuaded by Twitterings that they have actual intimate knowledge of "their" celeb, and end up breaking into their house or something because of it. Not that crazed fans don't exist outside the 'net, but Twitter just seems the perfect conduit for that sort of thing, y'know?

Yeah. I just. There's a disconnect that I sometimes think the internet encourages, and some fans really don't recognize. Following =/= knowing.
