Gonzalez says he 'should have been more engaged'?

WTF?

When I'm half-asleep in a lab meeting, I'm disengaged. The barista who waited on me at the cafe this morning, who's only working there b/c she's writing the Next Great American Novel, which does not pay the bills, is not engaged.

The ex-Attorney General of the United States cannot tell me that he was disengaged for the ENTIRETY of his tenure and expect that to be an excuse for what happened under his direction. Any more than he should expect us to believe that his repeated "I cannot recall"s while under oath were actually the truth.

ETA: What drugs is he taking? They must be some fine, fine pharmaceuticals, because seriously?

[H]e believes history will favorably judge his tenure as attorney general.

REALLY? That sounds a lot like the Shrub's belief that he won't go down in history as the Worst Decider Ever.

I get being disengaged. I was pretty disengaged from my last job. But I got in trouble for it and eventually quit because it just wasn't working. But I was a receptionist. Attorney General of the United States is NOT a job you can be disengaged from.

WTAF?!

EXACTLY! I get being disengaged. It happens. But in that position? No. He's just saying what he needs to say to shove blame off on someone else. "What? That was happening? I was not aware of it! I was not engaged in that process."

I read that article and it just seemed to me that he was passing the blame to anyone but himself and saying he should have paid more attention.

What? In that position you should not be letting others make your decision. I don't look on him favorable at all.

Yeah, it's all plausible deniability. "What? That happened on my watch? I was not aware of this! I should have been paying more attention."

Which is infuriating when you think of his position and the amount we pay him a year.
