I KNOW, RIGHT? The last two inaugurations, I just ignored them. Blah blah, stole the White House, can't even look at you was my general feeling. But NOW!
I was taking J to the airport, so we just listened to most of it.
*shrug*
I'd rather read the text of his speech anyway. But I enjoyed some of the pics. There's one of Scalia watching, with the sourest expression on his face. I felt like cheering, "HAH! Would've happened EIGHT YEARS AGO if you hadn't given the country to the Shrub instead allowing a proper recount."
Listened to the end of it on NPR on the way to work... I cried at the national anthem.
Me.
Cried.
O.O
You could feel the general euphoria on campus today - suddenly it seems as though all the students want to be smart. And they're unafraid. They are determined to ask the "stupid" questions that will get them to "smart."
It's odd, because there really hasn't been that much comment by the students here. I don't know if it's because the dept is generally older and conservative, if the students are indifferent, what. But in my lab we had champagne and toasted. :D

Seriously, it's as though someone threw a switch.
