Hello, December, my least favorite month.
*sigh*
I am not prepared for the holidays; I'm never prepared for them. Mostly because I hate the consumerism, but also because we're always in a rush to get things donedoneDONE at work before the university hibernates for a week, while there are also more work-related social activities in which we're expected to participate.
Today's bonus headache-maker? Monday Night Football is in Houston tonight. The satellite parking lot for the med center switches over to parking for the stadium in the afternoon. And there is essentially no way for me to go home that doesn't involve the traffic snarls caused by stadium traffic. I... believe I might stay downtown for the night.
Anyway. On a more positive note: November's musicshare

1. Fine On My Own - Phantom Planet. I'm very sad that they're going on hiatus, but at least they're ending things (permanently? temporarily?) on a positive, friendly note.
2. Drunk Love - The Cab. Because I like this more than most of the second half of their album. Tell me again why they never perform it?
3. Say Hello 2 Heaven - Temple of the Dog. Ungh, Chris Cornell. WHY DID YOU PUSH BACK THE RELEASE DATE FOR SCREAM?
4. Possession - Sarah McLachlan. You speak to me in riddles / And you speak to me in rhymes/ My body aches to breathe your breath / Your words keep me alive.
5. Placer Culpable - Cobra Starship. I actually get distracted when I listen to this version of the song, because the words I expect to hear aren't the words sung.
6. Gypsy - Suzanne Vega. Coffee shops and morning streets in the blue and silent sunrise.
7. Vindicated - Dashboard Confessional. If I am going to have this song in my head for days, I might as well share it.
8. It Don't Matter - Donavon
9. Sleazy Wednesday - Jack's Mannequin
10. Go-Getter Greg - Ludo
11. Northern Downpour - P!ATD. This is the acoustic version that's just Brendon and Jon. I love this song a ridiculous amount, and have an equally ridiculous number of versions of it in my iTunes library, so it gets played alot.
12. Sunlight - Plain White Ts. (AKA Tim's song). Man, this song. Ignore the first 10 seconds of it, which sound weirdly Beach Boy-ish, and this sounds like an Eagles song to me. And, okay, every time I hear it, I think of
samedifference_'s fabulous and smile because I'm fine. Not going to spoil it or anything, but the end of that fic fits with this song in my head. Nrgh, Tim Novak.
13. Elective Amnesia - Rise Against. Because it wouldn't be a musicshare (from me) without any Rise Against.
14. Got You - Steel Train. Wilco cover. PLEASE TO BE COMING BACK TO HOUSTON FOR ANOTHER SHOW SOON, KIDS. LACES OUT!
Also? I am ridiculously excited that Blue October are supposed to debut songs off the album they just finished recording on Wednesday at the HOB/BuzzFestivus show.
