In which I totally blow off Dashboard Confessional's drummer

More details about the show later, but here is evidence of my complete faily-ness.

The first 25 people in line got a meet&greet with all the bands. Not one like Northern Downpour (or the Cobra show last week) where you hang out with the headliners for a few minutes and get your picture taken and everything, but where ALL the bands sit at tables and you file in and they say hi, how are you, here, let me sign that poster for you.

So. Did that. Cool.

After the show we went to the loading area to see if Zack would bring the Discos out to hang out before the convoy left Austin. We got to the area, and I was like, "Oh, look, that's the drummer from Dashboard." Blah, blah, other conversation.

Mid-sentence with other fangirl, I hear, "Hey, I know you."

It's the drummer.

Me: What? Are you talking to me?
Him: Yeah, you.
Me: Huh?
Him: You were at the meet and greet.
Me: Uh, yeah. *thinking: he sees a thousand crazy fangirls a day, and he remembers ME?*
Him: Yeah, your tattoos, I remember them.
Me: Uh... *has had more than one weird interaction in the last few days b/c of them*
Him: *looks at me expectantly*
Me: Uh...
Him: I'm in Dashboard Confessional
Me: Yeah, I recognize you. You're the drummer.
Him: I try. I'm Mike
Me: *sees Zack approaching our knot of fangirls and half-turns, cutting him off*
Him: Uh, okay then. *turns back to other girls surrounding him*

I AM A COMPLETE FAILURE AS A FAN.

The stupid thing is that our conversation? Was that no-one else would recognize anyone but Chris Carraba, if they ran into the Dashboard dudes. And I was like, well, I don't know their names. Obviously.

I know. But at least I'm not the crazed fangirl who broke into the dressing rooms. Seriously, WHY DO THAT? It's one thing to be a fan, but that is just CREEPY.

Yeah, but see, the thing about the dude recognizing you and talking to you-- should you have been inclined to-- those are the kind of signs given that he was interested and woulda totally done you, brought you into the inner circle, etc. Should you have been so inclined. Which I'm not saying you're a skanky groupie who was angling to sleep with the band--- but--- that was your chance.

Just saying. From my own experience. Had you been of the mind to, that was your chance.

I know! In retrospect! But at the time I was like, "What?" Because I've had more than one person REALLY creep me out over my tattoos in the last week, and I was totally NOT expecting him to talk to me when he had two hot blonde chicks hanging on his elbows.

I KNOW! AND HE DIDN'T NEED TO SAY IT! I didn't remember his name, but I was at the barrier right in front of his kit, so I spent a good part of their set watching him.

I feel bad in retrospect that a) I blew him off, and b) that he's been on this tour where all the fans who wait after are there to ogle the Discos or Chris.

Though ngl, I totally went home after meeting Hayley from Paramore b/c I didn't need to meet anyone else after that lol. /fail.

But still. Zack is made of awesome, and even though a creepy crazy fangirl broke into the dressing room and freaked the Discos out and then ran out into our crowd, making Zack decide NOT to bring them out, he's still the best boy-wrangler and kitten-herder ever.

Plus? I have one of Spencer Smith's drumsticks, tossed directly to me by Zack after the show. And I have a PWTs set list, signed by Tim, Tom, and DeMar.

AND I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE DISCOS TO GET BACK TO THE STUDIO, YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
