We were without power for over an hour. Emergency back-up generators eventually put some lights on in the hallways (our lab is in the middle of the building and thus pitch-black without them) and gave power to some essential equipment, but we were basically down for all that time.
It is amazing how little of our experiments we can complete without electricity.
Oh, science. :(
Also? Someone came looking for The Chief this morning to request his signature on paperwork that is absolutely required for their thesis defense. The deadline for this paperwork to be filed with the Graduate School? Today. The Chief? Out of town until tomorrow.
I don't even know why you'd put that sort of thing off to the last minute, after working for five years toward your doctorate.
