Hey, hi!

Just FYI, we were going to visit San Antonio this weekend anyway, so we just left a day early and hung out at my dad's place (he lives just north of town). San Antonio has been windy and hot, with not one drop of rain.

We've heard from neighbors who stayed in Houston - our house is fine - no windows broken, just some water coming in through the chimney when the cap blew off, and our fence is destroyed - the cats are fine, so we are fine. Our neighborhood has no electricity, and likely won't for a couple of days, so we're probably going to stay with my dad in San Antonio until it's back on.

(Seriously, no running water and 90% humidity with 90 deg temps? NOT COOL. Literally.)

MrIris's company hasn't initiated their telephone tree, so he's not expected back at the plant in Freeport, and I can use sick days or vacation days while we hang out here.

Good tequila, good music, good company on the Riverwalk. Things could have been worse for us.

We're still waiting to hear from friends who lived on the coast, at Quintana Beach and Surfside. If you've got CNN or TWC, you've seen what those places looked like even before the eye made landfall.

I'm moving back in just less than two weeks (the 27th). I never really unpacked from my last move, so I have minimal packing to do, which is very nice. Now I just have to get through these next two weeks of work. I'm so done with that job. :/

Yeah, my friend was asking about me because I live in San Antonio, but I told her that it's not worth worrying about me here and she should worry more about the people in Houston and over down at that area.

I'm safe. Just going crazy to be spending so much time away from home and work. I know it'd be miserable there without electricity, but I hate the feeling of walking on eggshells in someone else's home.

I have no neighbors who will report about my place nor will my leasing office answer their phones... ARGH.

I was supposed to come home before my next contract but right now I'm not sure how that's going to go...

Some of the landlines were out, and some cell phone towers were knocked down, so our contact has been sporadic. Plus, 75% of CenterPoint's customers are still without power (our neighborhood still is, and it's only Monday afternoon), so your office might not be able to answer their phones.

We are still in San Antonio. I... have had enough of dogs and infants, and am ready to brave the no-electric. Seriously. Three bedroom/3.5 bath home with 9 adults, 2 infants and 5 dogs?

We are! But I'm ready to be back now, cleaning up and getting back to work. Vacation is much more fun when it's not cloudy by worry about water damage and looting and such.
