Dude. People in my neighborhood are out with vid-cams, recording what their houses look like for insurance purposes. Just, you know, in case Gustav hits us. That is so fucked up.

We are! Actually, we're far enough inland and on high enough ground that I'm expecting the wind to be the worst of it if Gustav actually lands in TX rather than LA.

We will! We've still got a few days before landfall, and I'm not convinced that it'll even make it here. Not that I wish another hurricane on LA and NO, but there's no use getting all het up about it yet.

I hate to wish ill on others, but I'm really just hoping that the hurricane makes landfall elsewhere. Or, you know, dies a natural death out in the Gulf, before it ever gets to shore.

I don't really know why people are worried here - this neighborhood didn't flood even when Allison dumped rain on Houston for days. And all the computer models have the storm hitting east of here. *shrug*

My director has taken a three day trip to New Orleans because I guess he planned this trip earlier in the year and since he didn't get travel insurance.... And everyone was begging him not to go, but of course he went anyway and we're just hoping he stays safe. D:
