+ Dear MSM and Blogosphere, SHUT UP ABOUT PUMAs. People have the right to vote for whomever they wish to vote. That's what democracy is. The media is making more out of this than it warrants.

+ Dennis Kucinich's speech last night fucking ROCKED, okay? I wish he were the Democratic nominee. And I'd like to know why Jimmy Carter was basically black-listed at the DNC. Is it perhaps because he's critical of the Shrub's administration's policy toward Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip, and Obama and Clinton both have repeatedly kissed AIPAC's ass?

+ Phantom Planet and Weezer tickets have been printed. :D We actually got seats for Weezer, because MrIris prefers seats at arena shows rather than GA floor tickets. Pretty decent - section 102, so only one off the stage. I'm sorta excited that he wanted to see them, because usually he just goes along with it when concerts are my choice for Date Night activities.

+ Also, Steel Train tickets went on presale at DucatKing, which confuses me. The show here in Houston been on sale at TM for over a week. But whatever. I wanted to see them anyway. Then it became apparent that empires will be opening for some of those tour dates. It's unconfirmed yet if they'll be doing so at the Houston show, but if they do? BONUS.

+ Gabe Saporta, I ♥ you and your shit-stirring, both the fact that you do it and the fact that you sing about it. Your version of I Kissed A Boy is 12000x better than Katy Perry's.

+ Finally, my latest crackified plot bunny:

In this picture, Jon and Bden are having the at-home interview/inspection with a social worker, before they become foster/adoptive parents. Y/N?

Um.....what? I am planning on going to see Steele Train (I actually liked them at the Hush Sound show) and empires might join them? If this turns out to be true I'm going to have to find a room so I can SCREAM IN SHEER JOY.

It's not confirmed for the Houston show. But they ARE opening for them for a bunch of the midwest shows. I'm crossing my fingers and toes and legs.

Supposedly for the Steel Train/Forgive Durden/Dear In The Headlights tour. But it's only confirmed for the midwest dates so far.

I'm a PUMA, who is writing in a candidate.

Dennis's speech should have been carried on the networks, but nooooo. Had to see it on C-Span. Second the wish he was a nominee.

And Carter is the shameful secret of the party these days.

I'm at the point where I don't care who wins anymore. I have to look ahead to 2012 (and the asteroid may just take us all out anyway).

I'm overdosed on electioneering. And I have the feeling that no matter what happens in November, the campaign for the next election will start in January. :(

Why is DucatKing named after two things that don't exist in America?

I'm amazed at the shit-headedness of PUMAs. Their very name identifies them as assholes. The groups are just Republican fronts trying to stir up trouble. And any registered Democrat that goes along with it doesn't give a shit about real democratic principles. They're dumbasses throwing a tantrum because they didn't get exactly what they wanted, as if that EVER happens in politics. I loved the Daily Show's lambasting.

It seems counter-intuitive; even if your person didn't get the nomination, the progressive platform should be enough to earn your vote, right? It's a peril of the two-party system, that we have to support one, else our missed or written-in vote be the equivalent of a vote for the other. I don't dislike Obama, and I'd rather he won than McCain, so on the purely practical level I see the value in voting for him. But. Where's the choice when there really isn't a choice?

That is absolutely what is being depicted in that photo.

There is no other explanation.

It's a surprise inspection, and Jon wasn't even done his first cup of coffee when the knock sounded at the door. He's not quite awake yet -- he had a late night, taking pictures of the lights out on the Strip -- and he's letting Brendon do the normal host things. Brendon, he's trying not to babble nervously, so after he shows the social worker around, he offers her coffee too and then zips his lips and waits for her to speak. (Also, he's trying not to get distracted by Jon's sleepy eyes and his thigh pressed against Brendon's on the sofa and the way the vee of his shirt lets his collarbones peak out. Actually, if Brendon turns his head at just the right angle, he can see the shadow of the mark his teeth left there, barely hidden under the edge of the fabric. He resolutely turns and faces Ms. Turner again, and focuses on her review of their application and the inspection results.)
