First, a music-related meme, from
why_me_why_not:
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.
She assigned me J, so here are some of my favorite J-titled songs.
1. Joking (Indigo Girls)
2. Jesus On The Moon (Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds)
3. John's Star (The National)
4. Just A Little (The Used)
5. Just Rock And Roll (Midtown)
And also, it's time for the May most-played music-share.
Broken, Seether. Before the Amy Leedesecration duet, there was the original acoustic version.
Why are you Following Me?, Drive By. I like these guys. I maybe wouldn't have seen them so often if they hadn't opened for MCR, but still.
MakeDamnSure (Live from Long Beach), Taking Back Sunday. Creepier and stalk-ier than Every Breath You Take, but I love it anyway. Adam Lazzara, Matt Rubano, I love you.
Prayer of the Refugee, Rise Against. I told you you'd end up with an entire album worth of Rise Against sooner or later, didn't I? This is the AOL session version of the song from The Sufferer and The Witness.
M. Shepard, Thursday. *shrug* Look at the title. Look at the band.
Mind Dependency, Blindspott. These guys rock. I don't know how I first heard them, because they don't usually get played on the radio here, but I love the way the music goes from almost to orchestral to heavy guitars to plaintive vocals and back.
Song 2, My Chemical Romance. Heeeeee. The "woo-hoo"s. I just. Seriously, Gerard Way. You make me laugh each time I hear this cover.
You Can't Be Arrested For Being High On Heels, The Cab. From their baby-band demo, not on Whisper War.
Wide Awake, Chris Cornell. I love this acoustic version of the Audioslave song a ridiculous amount. Dear Tom Morello and Chris Cornell, please to be making nice, because Zach de la Rocha's vocals are sorta lame, and Chris Cornell does floaty weird shit when left to his own devices.
All Night Long, Empires. Just howl... all. night. long. Sean Van Vleet, please to be convincing Tomrad and the rest of the band that gigs outside Chicago are a priority.
You Look So Fine (Fun Lovin' Criminals Remix), Garbage. Because Shirley and Butch rock, and I wish Garbage would reconsider the last group decision.
Stuck Between Stations (Acoustic Version), The Hold Steady.
Black Mamba (Three In The Morning Party Mix), The Academy Is... TAMBOURINE. Plus, I have to appreciate a song that incorporates "take a long walk off of the shortest pier" into the lyrics.
Dirty Little Secret, The All-American Rejects. I love the video to this song an inordinate amount.
The World's Not Waiting (Five Tired Boys in a Broken Down Van), Fall Out Boy. Young Patrick Stump! Before FOB got big! Title says it all, really.
ZIP FILE
ETA: Pics from the Love Cats' gig at Asbury Lanes are posted, and holy hell, WHERE HAS ALL OF FRANK'S HAIR GONE? (As an aside, it amuses me that MCR are taking time off to rest and whatnot, and Frank has gigs and possibly a tour w/ Leathermouth set up less than a month after My Chem's last show at MSG. It's good to love what you do that much, seriously.)

Date: 2008-06-09 10:34 pm (UTC)Lately, I listen more to talk radio than music radio, so I don't get exposed to lots of new music - I love that you take the time to share with us ... *off to download*

Replied to the wrong comment!
Some of this isn't "new", exactly. The Seether song is a few years old, and so is the AAR. But I'm happy to share. :)
