I just don't understand.

The Post-Doc Who Looked Good On Paper But Sucks At Laboratory Biochemistry just asked me where we keep secondary antibody labeled with HRP (peroxidase, makes light when substrate + peroxide is added). I showed him (again; I'm pretty sure The Chief has shown him also -- it's the box labeled ANTIBODIES in Sharpie in the freezer, very hard to see, I know). I know he's done westerns since he's been here, but none of them have worked. He said he used the secondary antibodies labeled "AP".

I just. That's the completely wrong secondary. AP = alkaline phosphatase. The enzyme conjugated to the antibody doesn't DO anything when you put it into the HRP substrate solution.

That would explain why none of his westerns have worked.

He is a post-doc. He has as many years experience as I do. How? HOW is he so fucking backwards?

WOW! The stoopid....it burns!

We have a student like that. She can't do crap but this animal model, which is why my boss is falling all over himself at her every desire. This #%@!* even had me doing work for her, and mind you, we are on completely unrelated projects AND I have my OWN graduate research to work on. Call me crazy, but every experiment in my dissertation will be something that I've done or know how to do. How is it fair that people like this can get by?
