I never saw Metallica after the 'and justice for all' tour. Sadly I never saw tehm during the Cliff Burton days. I would love to have seen them then.

Oh, Cliff Burton. You know, I was thinking about him and about the bus accident the other day, because there was a similar accident here in Houston, and a famous Tejano singer suffered serious brain injury. What is it about the buses? They seem so large, like they'd be invulnerable, but that's just an illusion.

I didn't really have the money or permission to see Metallica until I went away to college, so I didn't get to see them during the Cliff Burton years, either. The black album happened when I finally had a car and money and didn't need parental permission to see them. It was my first experience in the floor/pit at a show. It was AWESOME.

I saw them a couple of times at the UK monsters of rock, plus they did an enormous gig at the Milton Keynes bowl. But I probably preferred the smaller gigs. Much more personal, you know?

Oh yeah, smaller venues are always better! That's why I'm seeing My Chemical Romance multiple times on the new tour, a couple of festivals with lots of bands and huge crowds, but also at a couple of club shows where the venue capacity is <1000. More personal, usually a better sound and view. :)
