asimplechord: (Sam's wtf moment)

I'm making a Sam Winchester playlist. I've got my own ideas (augmented by Jared Padalecki's comments and others') about what should go on it. But I'm open to suggestions.

(So far: the Shins, Matchbox Twenty, Radiohead, REM, Goo Goo Dolls, The Decemberists, Beck, Bright Eyes)

What songs do you think would be on the Top 25 Most Played list of Sam's iTunes?

And while I'm talking about music...

[livejournal.com profile] nessime_lisen, you might be the only person here to appreciate this. Last night on my way home, the DJ at TheBuzz played some MCR (Helena, pretty much the only thing that gets airplay other than Welcome to the Black Parade, even on the "alternative rock" radio station), and when it ended, he casually mentioned rumors that MCR were planning a couple of shows in Houston and Dallas.

What? WHAT?

There's nothing about this on myspace, nothing on their website. Nothing on any of the venue websites, ticket sites, anything.

Details, man. I NEED them like a burning thing.

Oh, and you know what I just realized? The Angels and Airwaves show on Sunday night is at the same time as the Superbowl. That means MrIris won't be using his ticket.

Anybody want it? I am not staying in to watch football (that can be recorded) when there's music to be heard.

That is an excellent point. He strikes me as the kind of guy who listened to the college indie station because it was the one he got clearly when/if he turned a radio on in his dorm, you know? Plus, it wasn't the stuff Dean listened to, therefore not a constant reminder to pull him back. Clean break, yes?

Hm, you mean, folk/independent vs. pop? (I have lots of Tori Amos and such in my library, but have no idea who Madison Avenue are. I'm really bad when it comes to pop music after the early 90's.)

The clean break makes sense, yeah. Which makes me ponder how it must've felt for Sam whenever he heard "Dean's music" incidentally during that time? Especially during the early Standford time before he got with Jess and had all that perky sex to distract him. :)

Oh, and I think I'd like to put a vote in somewhere for Sam actually quite liking some of Dean's music anyway. LedZep, for instance, I can imagine him actually appreciating. He just probably wouldn't admit it to Dean if asked. Heh.

Madison Avenue were an Australian pop/dance outfit who had a couple of massive dance hits overseas. (http://www.sendspace.com/file/wqggzy) They were just the first thing to pop into my head when I tried to think of something perky and girly. :) She seemed quite perky... but she was an aspiring artist, too, so maybe she explored a bit with her musical tastes... What was that song that was playing in their apartment in the Pilot when she was getting ready for the party?

Ah. Between, oh, 1995 and 2004, if it wasn't classic rock, industrial, hard rock, or college-independent, I was oblivious.

I don't remember what song was playing at that point in the pilot. A reason to go watch it again. Like I need one!

*eyes stack of journal articles and open Powerpoint file*

I've got all day tomorrow to work on that stuff, right?
