asimplechordSo, there are some things I don't really get about the bandslash fandom. Like, why would you want to have an "Unpopular Bandom Opinion Meme", anonymous or not? That's inviting wank. Does anybody really need that?
I mean, I don't mind sharing my opinions, unpopular or not. But I'd rather not stick them out there as a bull's eye for sniping.

I've been doing pulse-chase experiments to determine the half-life and stability of the protein we study. I showed the Chief some data today, and was unhappy with the variance in replicates. He said to just fit the data and let the regression dictate whether it needed to be repeated. And he said to do a linear regression. I just looked at him for a second, then asked, "Non-linear, right?"
No. He wanted linear.
Um. Decay = at least a first-order process. NOT LINEAR. Exponential, at the very least. [Most likely something like f(t)=Ae^(-kt) + B] I mean, looking at the data, it was a curve, not a line. It's asymptotic.
He insisted it should be linear because "the rate shouldn't change". But I'm not measuring or graphing rate.
He is so totally NOT a chemist, oh. my. god.
I had to try to explain it, and ended up comparing it to the decay of a radionuclide.

I just. Linear? LINEAR? The graph was a fucking CURVE. HOW WOULD LINEAR FITS BE USEFUL?
Also? I'd really like it if the Chief and ex-student S would stop being so damn passive-aggressive and TALKED to each other. It'd make my life so much easier.
