If anyone else in my lab breaks something or has a problem today? They can take it to someone else.

In the last two hours, I've had to deal with a(nother) broken CO2 incubator, the dying blower motor in the tissue-culture hood, the always-problematic x-ray film developer, and a malfunctioning semi-dry transfer apparatus*.

Plus, somehow I got volunteered to plan a baby-shower for a student in my lab. NOT IN MY JOB DESCRIPTION.

No more, I say. I have my own shit to do.

* Which was actually not malfunctioning. The user just couldn't READ THE FUCKING MANUAL and figure his shit out himself.

I wouldn't mind if it were a friend. Not so much anyway. It'd be weird, because the baby thing seems alien to me, you know? But if it's for a friend and I was close to her and happy and excited for her, I'd get over my annoyance and enjoy helping her/them get ready. But this is an obligation, which is not quite so cool.
