It's been a long week.

What's been going on?

WORK: I've been finishing experiments so I can make figures and we can send out a manuscript before I go on vacation. Which wouldn't be so bad, but we just found a little issue with one of our antibodies, and that took some extra troubleshooting to figure out.

Yay, that big S-35 experiment? The replicates worked, and the data look good, and the results TOTALLY fitted with our hypothesis. I'm sure the reviewers will suggest more experiments to do, but I'm just happy that the first go-round worked.

PLAY: This week my days were brightened by texts from Tabby with a running bandom story, and this beauty was fed by this clip of FOB et al. doing This Ain't A Scene... at the FOE suite at the VMAs. GCH! Lil Wayne! Brendon Urie looks so bouncy and perky and thrilled to be there, like a puppy, that I almost feel guilty for slashing him. Almost. Then I think, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?" and the guilt evaporates. :D

And... didja see my last post? Fred/George/Luna goodness in the form of giftfic, all for me Me ME!

RANDOM: Last week MrIris was all mysterious: I've got a surprise for you when you get home. So I'm excited, and I get home and look around, and... there's a Wii plugged into the TV. Um, is that a surprise for me? 'Cause, uh, gee, thanks, but... I don't really play video games. And he knows it. So I think it's more of a gift-for-him. Except, yeah, if Madden 08 on Wii means we could tackle each other, then yeah, I'll play.

OMG, one more week, then WE'RE ON VACATION.

Reminder: go here and leave a mailing address if you want a postcard. ♥

Oh, and hey, Eddie Vedder did a version of All Along the Watchtower for the upcoming Dylan biopic? *flail* My favorite Dylan. By Eddie Vedder, in that scratchy delicious voice? *double flail*

Heh. Boys.

I hope you and Mr. Iris have an incredible time on vacation and that all your work issues get sorted perfectly. :)

I've pretty much decided that companies that make antibodies make a ton of money selling a really crappy product, and consumers often have no recourse, because to make one's own antibody costs more than $1000 per trial. Somebody's making money on basic science research, but it's not the researchers.

:D

Good stuff! I'm happy for you.

LOL on the gift - reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Homer's gift for Marge was a bowling ball with the name Homer on it. ;)

Was ist das vacation thing? Must check your earlier posts. I've been a bit out of things lately.

VACATION! Australia! We didn't take a vacation at all last year, so we could save for this one. And I am SOOOOOO ready for one.

Heh. It could be worse: at least he's never given me a frying pan or a vacuum for my birthday. :)

We got a Wii for Christmas from my IL's - I still say it's mainly my DH's, but I do enjoy playing Big Brain Academy on it ... and I beat my DH's score, so that's good - prolly the only VG I'd beat him at, LOL.

Big Brain Academy? Is that like a learning tool or a trivia game? That might be fun to play...

It's more of a learning tool - logic tests, memory games, that kind of thing. I highly recommend it!

I put Madden'08 on my wish-list. Right now we've just got the games the Wii comes with and Mortal Kombat. (Totally not my choice.) I got home from work last night and he was flailing around the living room, breaking stuff and shooting things on-screen. :)
