J mentioned that she's been looking for some slashy fanfic, and I've never read any of this particular fandom (if it exists - and it probably does, I'm just looking in the wrong place), so I figured I would ask you, my all knowing f-list.
Anybody ever read any Swiss Family Robinson fanfic? Specifically slash fanfic? Even more specifically... Ernst/Fritz slash fanfic?
Don't give me that look of disgust! You remember that scene in the movie (which I remember much more clearly than the book), where the two boys are laying in the sand on the beach daydreaming? You can't tell me you never thought of a From Here to Eternity moment in that scene instead.
I swear I had nothing to do with interesting her in this. Although we have discussed slash in fandom, my twincesty fandom bent has not been imposed on her, because I've always assumed she'd be completely squicked.

Hiya...
Date: 2007-04-06 04:27 am (UTC)Her best bet might be to go to this site and poke around:
http://community.livejournal.com/rarelitslash/profile
This site has many links to other rare lit slash sites, and yahoo groups etc. also, if she is looking for slash that is related to a movie version there are links to rare movie slash as well as slash for the book. I looked at the actual memories for the group and they do not list any swiss slash but this is probably a good place to keep an eye out for it, esp with the new movie coming out. I'm sure there will be more slashy goodness soon. For a book written in the 1800's you sort of have to excuse people a bit, I mean I know that the first person I read it I wasn't thinking, ooh incest slash, woohoo! (That only came with the third reading, lol).

This is a sister site and it might have something too, but I usually find fics for lit works more easily at the other site, obviously.
All the easy methods haven't worked, so her best bet is probably to examine the extensive list of links they have.
Best luck to her.
She's hard at work on the movie slash angle now and I'll forward her results to you ;)..

Re: Hiya...
Date: 2007-04-06 04:30 am (UTC)The other thing I meant to say is that at this point there doesn't look to be a community of people for this pairing or fandom, so she'll have more trouble with it (though starting her own lj comm for it may increase her chances of finding what she's looking for ;)).
Hope this helps a bit....
Jess

Date: 2007-04-06 05:30 am (UTC)Hey, when I answered before I think maybe I confused you, the new movie isn't out yet, but when it comes out I'm sure that people will be writing slash. When it does come out she should check out this site, http://community.livejournal.com/hewn/
Or similar sites (this is a site specifically for rare movie slash), all she has to do is type in rare slash in lj search. Again, she can also search delicious (www.delicious.com) for fic.
That's all she's got for now ;D.
Sorry to spam you...I promise I won't again :(.

I didn't think of it until I happened to see the movie again this weekend, and apparently so did she. :)
