A lil' soomit in the comments to that had me cackling and laughing and thinking "Ooooohgods, that's brilliant!" -

I’ve never heard of a fanfic reading before, except for the ones the Lost cast used to have before their weekly dinners. (The actor whose character was the fic’s focus would read it aloud to the other cast members.)

Now I want SPN RPS in which the Lost tradition has been taken up... :D :D

That? Would be too brilliant for words. Especially if the audience got to pick the fic. :D

Hee, that makes me think an icon I've seen floating around on the SPN comms: it's got Jensen Ackles in front of a laptop, the text "Dear LJ..." floating nearby.

I'm convinced that Kripke et al. encourage all the off-set behavior and the on-screen tension 'cause they check out fanfic and fansites.
