callused hands I'm totally fascinated by hands of all shapes and sizes, but especially by hands that are obviously used for manual labor. Started with hands of family members: calluses formed from fishing, wood-working, building cars. Burns (and stains) from cigarettes and fireworks and welding torches, scars from mis-aimed hammers, rope-burn from hauling net, a slice from the slip of an oyster-shucking knife or the repeated blistering from a grip on farming equipment. (Blue collar much, my family?) Where are the calluses - finger tips, beside the nailbed, on the palm? What shape are they? Where is the skin tight, wrinkled or smooth, whether the mound below the thumb is built up by being right- or left-handed to the exclusion of the other hand, how the use develops muscles around the wrist. Hands can tell you all sorts of info about a person, if you only pay attention.
Ioan Gruffudd Welsh actor. Eye, ear, and brain candy. I first noticed him as John Gray in Wilde. Then realized he and Clive Owen were the only good things about the last King Arthur movie - he was Lancelot. Most memorable role: Horatio Hornblower. You might recognize him as one of the Fantastic Four - Reed. And he had a bit part in Titanic.
Signac - (signal?) One of my favorite artists, Paul Signac. Neo-impressionist, disciple of Seurat, who moved from the brush-strokes of Impressionism to pointillism. One of my favorite paintings: The Quai at Clichy. Love the way all the dots mean one thing up close and something else entirely - a whole entity, rather than individual ones - from the long view. So there's the focus on individual color within the single dots and the way they all blend together to form the overall image.
Quote from Jane Eyre. Chapter... 12, maybe? It's written/thought by Jane shortly before Mr. Rochester makes his first appearance. Jane has left the dull servitude at Lowood, but feels stifled by the sameness at Thornfield Hall with only Mrs. Fairfax and Adele and Sophie for company. When I'm particularly tired of being a suburban drone in Petrochemical City, USA, I think of this quote. Then I go do something as my silent revolt, ranging from political protest, volunteering to do something for Planned Parenthood, or writing some socially unacceptable fanfiction. :D
(made by
tipsytoe) Boyd Holbrooke, model. Boyd is adult!Draco in my imagination when I read or write fanfic featuring Draco Malfoy. Nothing against Tom Felton, but I just can't smex him in fanfic if I've got a mental image of him as Draco.
(made by
cstardust, via a CM comm) Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid from the TV program Criminal Minds. I don't remember which episode that particular pic came from, but I remember that he was talking with JJ and Morgan about being scared of the dark, and he was completely gulled into believing JJ's scary story. Eidetic memory. Sugar addict. Totally socially backwards but brilliant. I just want to pinch his cheeks and tell him everything will be OK. And I love that he wears a fluffy purple scarf and carries a man-purse. Plus, yeah, geek + glasses.
Leave a comment if you want me to pic 3+3. :)

Date: 2007-04-27 02:32 am (UTC)The scared of the dark conversation was in boogeyman. And we know why Reid's scared of the dark, right? :P
Also? I emailed you my J2. Did you finish what you were betaing so you can write the big pileup of sexiness?

Date: 2007-04-27 04:12 am (UTC)knowledgelight that Reid hates, really. ;)I missed most of SPN, but saw a quick glimpse of Dean in an orange jumpsuit with big shiner. Poor thing, he needs
Samsomeone to kiss it better.I made changes on hard-copy, and am in the process of editing the files to send back now.
And I haven't gotten to the big pile, yet. Dean's a bit skittish, you know? :)

Date: 2007-04-27 04:50 am (UTC)There were HANDCUFFS! I'm totally convinced Dean somehow swiped a pair before they escaped, b/c he's all sneaky and stealthy like that, and b/c he likes the way Sam looks in them...
Ahem.
Dean? Skittish? :P
Interests:
Shoebox Project: Shoebox Project? OMFG! One of the funniest things EVER. It's Marauders-era fic and it's just... awesome. It's got like a cult following. *g* There are pics with the chapters, which is awesome, plus there is things like evil mistletoe that flies around the school and makes people kiss or it'll bite their nose. And it's kinda Remus/Sirius even though it takes like 26 chapters for a kiss. But there are lines like "I do believe in commas" and "I must be stronger than I thought; I just knocked the english language out of your head" and it's something you really should read when you find some time. Plus? TOAST! (sometimes i just get the urge to do nothing so I turn off my messengers & ignore LJ & my email and just read fic. It's good for the soul.)
Latter Days: AWWWW! This movie is so cute and cliche! You haven't seen it? It's about Aaron who moves to LA to do his mission work or whatever b/c he's Mormon and he moves in to an apartment across from Christian, who is adorably hot and gay, and Chris makes a bet that he can turn one of the Mormons but he and Aaron fall in love and... OMG. You really need to see this movie! I insist!
Angels: I believe in angels, like guardian angels, and that my daughter is one and watches over her little brothers. Ask me to tell you about my dream that I had not long after she died, but wait until I'm not drugged, k?
Icons:
GUS!! Yeah, that's Gus from QaF, who is the adorablest thing! I love that icon b/c it's cute and it gets someone's attention. It's like *poke* Hey!
Sawyer is so hot and he's such a fucking smartass (which, you've met Dean Winchester, right? Smartassness turns me on.) and I like to use that icon when I'm feeling particularly smug about something.
My favorite SPN icon... probably the "Love is a 67 Chevy" one. Someone made it shortly after the season finale last year (when I was freaking out and all "If I can just have a picture of the Metallicar unsmashed, I'll be able to breath again). And the Metallicar is my favorite Winchester (but don't tell the boys that) and it's the closest thing to HOME that the boys have ever known.
Of course I'm also fond of the one I'm using on this comment. It was made specially for me and it's from Scarecrow and the idea of Dean tied up... Guh! (except totally not when he's waiting to be sacrificed to some pagan god)

Date: 2007-04-29 05:48 am (UTC)Nice stuff! The world needs more shaving scenes, to be sure, to be sure. Thanks for the link, m'dear... I spent many an hour yesterday, just clicking around on that site. :) There's a writer on there called keeperofthecheese, who's REALLY good. Does both J/J and Wincest - the latter, particularly, good gods! Really bloody brilliant. Got the "brothers" thing completely nailed. But yeah... Thanks again! :)
