That was the way I imagined it when the idea first popped into my head, but the more I thought about it, the more I enjoyed the idea of a role-reversal, having Nate, who wanted to grow up to be a Spartan, be the one to run off to war, and return home disillusioned by the crusades. While Brad, who would've gone with him if only he'd been there when Nate took his chance, stays home and makes do. And he's a good landholder, a good leader, even if though it's a few years before he grows into all of his responsibilities.
Then again, you know, just b/c I'm casting Brad as Maid Marian doesn't mean he can't be competing against Nate in the archery contest. :)
