My question about the entire premise, which maybe will be answered if I read further, is why, if Mrs. Selwick-Alderly had all this info and the spies of that area were so fascinating, did she give them to some random American person (who, boo-hoo, went to London and was surprised when it rained and ruined her Jimmy Choos) who happened to send her a note. No one inquired before?
