1. Dallas. Wretched weather on the drive up with [livejournal.com profile] vic_ramsey and [livejournal.com profile] playfullips, but it cleared up once we were there. We met up with [livejournal.com profile] eckerlilas, [livejournal.com profile] fiddleyoumust, and [livejournal.com profile] shutyourface and others whose LJ and/or real names I cannot remember. Because I'm just that forgetful. [livejournal.com profile] wendy and [livejournal.com profile] phaballa dropped [livejournal.com profile] why_me_why_not when they were done seeing the Hannah Montana movie. (I think that's what they saw, anyway.)

- The venue and tour management made the early entry/meet&greet entry a total clusterfuck. Dear Charlie, please come back and tour manage, because Beaver Productions are failing hard-core.

- Better yet, could Zack Hall please come work his magic for Fall Out Boy? Panic's m&g/ee work with military precision in comparison.

- I forget how tiny the Fall Out Boys all are. I knew it as a fact, but then they stood there next to me, and they were shorter than me as a reality, and I was like, "Really?"

- Personal bubble issues: I realize it's a m&g photo op, but I really was not expecting Pete Wentz to put his arm around me. (And to have to reach up to touch my shoulder, HAhahahahahaha!)

- Mosh pit dudes: please mosh the other direction. Every time I inched away, you expanded toward me. You broke my shoes and my big toenail is cracked all the way down to the base. If I wanted to mosh, I'd join you. Please don't follow me. Especially to Saturday, okay? THAT IS NOT A SONG TO WHICH MOSHING SHOULD BE DONE.

2. Houston's cancellation: sad, but understandable. I think that the organizing for entry at that venue would have been just as bad or worse than Dallas if the show hadn't been canceled, because the person at the gate was fucking CLUELESS, and there didn't appear to be much communication between her and venue management and/or tour management.

3. New Orleans. Totally made up for Houston's fail.

- The drive from Houston? Longest, boringest drive ever. And I've driven through Kansas, Nebraska, north Texas, the Utah desert, and other empty stretches of the US. Plus: terrible road, unbelievably wretched stink, and NO SOURCES OF COFFEE until we actually hit NOLA.

- I realize it's not the venue, it's the tour management, but still. Having a security dude tell us that there was no m&g or early entry when we asked for details? Not cool. The situation ended up being messy, but not the cluster that Dallas was.

- Hey, hi, center of the barrier. I like you, I'd like to have you as my spot for all FOB shows for the rest of my life.

- FOB can be as political as they like, as far as I'm concerned. In the grand scheme of political punk (heh, isn't that sort of redundant?), they barely even register a blip. But because they are popular and have a relatively young fan base, i guess any political message earns criticism. Whatever. I didn't take the spiel as being aimed at govt; it was aimed at individual and societal greed. JMO.

A'right, photos. These are generally chronological. I am not a particularly good photographer, and I don't have a particularly good camera, by way of warning.

I did the meet&greet at Dallas, and didn't bother fighting the crowd in the pit, because I knew we had early entry for Houston and NOLA, so none of my pictures are very good.

I mostly didn't bother with the photos of Hey Monday and All Time Low, because they are dark or blurry, with the exception of a good one of Cassadee during Candles and one of Jack of ATL when he was out in the stands.

Except that I really did need to record for posterity the underwear on the ATL boys' mics.

Because I am just that easily amused. I meant to take boxers to toss up at them the next day, but I forgot them. (What? They asked to see tits or dick. If girls can throw bras, why not boxers?)

I never get a good shot of Suarez - somehow ALL of them end up dark or blurry.

Gabe's onstage flirtation with VickyT charms me, even though I've seen them do every show.

See? Dark. Need to take it to work and fiddle with it in Photoshop.

We left to go get a drink and check out merch, and missed most of 50c's set. Except it seemed to go on FORVER, because he was STILL THERE when we came back. Set change was short, though, and then it was time for Fall Out Boyssss.

I took some photos of Patrick, but they were a bit blurry (quelle surprise, oui?). I know you're shocked to hear that somehow Pete photographed well, though, right?

Patrick and Andy. (Heh. Andy wore CLOTHES for the first part of their set. I was amused.)

Joe, why are you so far away?

NOLA: This time I was right up front, at the barrier in front of Patrick Stump. But no flash was allowed. So, yeah, expect some blurry, dark pics.

Cassadee, during Candles. Eh. I don't dislike Hey Monday, and I think Cassadee will be a pretty good front-person as she gains experience, but right now she reminds me of a perky aerobics instructor with her bounce-kicking and waving arm. Which is why the only pics I have of her were taken during the song where she was necessarily not bouncing.

All the guys in the band have faily hair.

This has apparently spread from Metro Station. Oh, Blake.

(Seriously? I am done with Metro Station. Mostly I've been entertained by their skeeze and not felt strongly one way or the other about their music, and I've seen them because they've opened for other bands I like, but now? Trace Cyrus spit his beer on us. Which, okay, I've been spit on before. But. Trace Cyrus's beer. Disgusting. So totally done.)

All Time Low: more skeevy boys. At least at this show, the panties and bras that were tossed to the stage didn't end up decorating their mic stands, unlike Dallas's. And their equipment's daily-changing labels amuse.

Does he work to get his hair to look like that, or does it come naturally?

OK, Cobra Starship, I'll get to work on following your directive.

Naaate! (I never get good shots of him - usually he's too far away. And it's not like this is an awesome photo or anything, but it's actually focused on HIM!)

More blurry Suarez. Please to be standing still for me, Senor Alex.

I tried to get a good shot of Gabe when he took Suarez's bass for the intro to Snake On A Plane, but he kept turning away.
Then they ended up not singing it after all, because neither Alex of ATL nor Cassadee of HM was available to sing William Beckett's part of the chorus. Or, you know, maybe because Gabe's voice is still totally fucked, even after an extra day off from the cancellation at Houston. *shrug* But that's just my idle speculation.

I... okay, even as I was looking through these, trying to think what to say, I realized that I can't communicate how amazing the show was. So I'm just going to dump the photos, and you can imagine to your heart's content.

I love the lighting in this photo.

This might be the only shot I got of Joe that includes his face and doesn't have him headbanging so hard that his hair is a blur.

NGL, the blond wig cracks me up.

Andy always looks angry. Maybe because they're making him wear clothing? IDK. But once again, I fail at taking good photos of the things that are not right in front of me.

What A Catch, Donnie. I had not seen clips of this before the our shows. I enjoyed the footage, esp. the Beckett-in-a-bathtub. Can there please be a Decaydance Fest where everyone who sings in this song performs it together, not just via recording or video?

You know that crowd-touching thing Pete does at every show? He did it on the part of barrier that [livejournal.com profile] why_me_why_not and I had been draped over.

I pointed out above that I have personal bubble issues when it comes to band dudes, right? His presence in my face, his feet and legs and his body bent over me? Violated that bubble.

(Yes, this is a picture of what you think it is. I was aiming for a shot of Patrick, who I could see through the gap between me and Pete's legs, but I couldn't get the camera around.)

It sort of amuses me to end it on that note, since that was during Saturday, the end of the show. And yeah, this show totally made up for the cancellation of the Houston show (which was the venue's decision for safety, I know) and the mess at Dallas.

And as tired as I am was, I still would do it again. I just hope the rescheduled Houston date is one that we can all attend.
