Everyone starts ignorant, but jeezus, the kids tonight! (It was a 14 and up show, rather than the usual 18 and up.)
1. Taking a shower and applying deodorant never killed anybody. Except maybe the Wicked Witch of the West.
2. If the doors open at 6pm and you get there at 8pm? Don't try to push your way to the barricades. You won't make it. You'll earn an elbow to the nose or the gut and the enmity of the people who were there when the doors opened.
3. Be aware of where you are. That big open space in the middle? Wasn't just waiting for you. People are moshing there. So be ready for them to carom into you. If you can't deal, DON'T STAND THERE.
4. Be aware of the crowd motion. You don't get a bubble of personal space. Be prepared for pushing and jostling, and be ready to get to know the strangers around you pretty fucking well.
5. Even if you don't want to crowd surf, do your part. (No, I don't get it either; venue security ejects the idiots who get passed up to the barricades, as they inevitably are, and there's no re-entry. That's not the point.) Don't duck down and avoid it. That means someone's going to get an elbow or a boot to the face when the guy gets dropped on his head.
6. Don't bitch about spilling your drink down your shirt if you tried to carry a full drink into the middle of the pit. WTF did you think was going to happen when the crowd started bouncing and limbs started flailing? /psa
ETA: What is up with the early shows? Doors at 6pm, three opening acts, main act on at 9pm. Is everyone protesting DST or something?
