the hardest thing you'll ever learn

Do you know how long it's been since I went to a gig where the band seriously asked if anybody had a place for one of the other bands to sleep tonight? TOO LONG.
But tonight? Uh-huh. The headliner (if that word can really be used for a club gig with ~100 in attendance) begged beds for the opening band. It's actually cool enough tonight that I think it'd be kinda miserable to sleep in the van/bus/vehicle.
*happy sigh*
I'm slightly deaf. But so happy.
Cancer Bats/This Is Hell/Gallows.
Not so impressed with This Is Hell, except for the drummer. (What? I like drummers. It has nothing to do with the drummer-boy I crushed on/dated in school.)
Cancer Bats? Liked. Must check out their myspace and purevolume.
Gallows?
1. Frank Carter is an energetic, obnoxious little fuck (and I mean that in the best possible way), and I'm under the impression that he was expecting a show in Houston on a Monday night to suck out loud.
2. Meridian was too small (as in, the ceiling wasn't high enough) for their jumping and moshing. So they moved from the stage to the floor.
3. The bassist was... yeah. Bass.
4. Houston's punk scene is... yeah. Houston. (There's a reason the rodeo's concert lineup is 95% country/western musicians.) There were maybe 20 people there for the opener, and my guess of 100 for Gallows? Is generous.
5. I'm sorta sad that I'm too old and staid now for the moshing. But I've lost the sharp elbows required to deal with that shit.
6. Orchestra of Wolves = yes. And a decent cover of Black Flag's Nervous Breakdown.
