midgets vs. giants

At the Houston date of the blink-182 tour, Pete Wentz mentioned that the Fall Out Boys felt like midgets next to blink-182.

They are. Proof: I had a meet & greet with both bands. I am 5'8", if you're curious, and I almost never stand up straight - I slouch, or stand with one hip cocked.



I was just going to stand between Joe and Patrick, but Patrick put his arm around me, so I returned the gesture.



There are so many things about this picture that amuse me. First, that I walked up and Tom DeLonge just reached out and gave me a hug, then started talking. No one in the group touched - look, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker and even the other fans who were there together (one person won m&g and could bring a friend) are just standing there, stand-offish.



Play For Keeps' EP arrived today, and the return address looks suspiciously like a residential Las Vegas address. Cash Colligan, are you taking lessons from Tom Conrad in encouraging stalker fans?



*sigh*

So far this week I've gotten home at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, and 8pm after work. I am contemplating skipping the Drive By Truckers show at HOB tomorrow just so I have some quiet time at home to exercise and get some chores and some fanfic writing done.

I thought Wentz was cute once, for about 2.5minutes. :) Seeing how short he is, I doubt I'll ever have another 2.5minutes like it again. :D

I... have very mixed feelings about PWentz. I don't find him attractive personally, although I don't think he's hideous or anything. He can't really sing - he got so unbelievably lucky when he (or actually, Joe) found Patrick Stump - and he's not an inspired bass player. But he writes lyrics that hurt sometimes, he's got a keen sense of what is marketable, and he's not afraid to put everything out in public, all his triumphs and his fuck-ups, and own them, so I end up admiring him even when I really just want to shake my head and ask him, "Really? I mean, REALLY?"

I did not realize Tom was that tall until he was standing right next to me.

Also, am I the only person who thinks that Mark Hoppus bears a passing resemblance to Sam Worthington as he appeared in Terminator Salvation?

Travis had his kids out there before they were escorted away and he dealt with fans. IDK, I never met him before so I can't judge, but he seemed sort of quiet - I'm not sure if he's always introverted with fans or if, because it was only a week or so after DJ AM's death, he was still reeling from that.

They are pocket-sized! Patrick has lost a fair amount of weight, too. He's noticeably skinnier than he was one the BND tour. Not that there was anything wrong with his weight before, but even a casual observer can see that he's getting even more wee than he was before.

He's so eensy and except for the tattoo additions there are few differences from early-FOB to the FOB of today. :) I <3 them all endlessly. :D
