So, apparently I'm going to St. Louis the first weekend in May

The Austin ticket presale was today at 1pm. I logged in at ~12:45pm and kept refreshing. At 1pm, the BUY NOW link finally appeared. I clicked it, and... got the "no tickets available". Retried. Again.

So apparently the presale allotment sold out in less than the time it takes to redirect from the front page of DucatKing to the actual event page. Who knew?

There was much keyboard mashing and typing and email bitching by me at various people as I tried to figure out if they really were sold out or if I was experiencing technical difficulties. They really were.

But. There were plenty of tickets left for the 3May event in St. Louis, which, unlike the Austin date, is a weekend. I wouldn't have to miss work, and airfare is cheap, so... yeah. Goin' to see 'em elsewhere. I'll hang out with [livejournal.com profile] randomepiphany and life will be good. :)

Other good stuff?

[livejournal.com profile] why_me_why_not has internet access again, YAY!

∞ The tattoo artist got back to me and said he should have a sketch of a design based on my description and the pic I forwarded sometime this week.

∞ Goan artichokes with naan could be served to me every night and I would not complain. EVER.

In Bruges earns two thumbs up. I was expecting something dark and funny, sort of like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and it came through on the funny but even more so on the dark. Plus, Ralph Fiennes, Brendan Gleeson, and Colin Farrell, with a bonus appearance by Clémence Poésy.

∞ Random: I was listening to Suzanne Vega this afternoon, and this verse made me laugh out loud:
Lamebrain Pete wants to Spit in the Sea.
He's got a cool hand but it isn't for me.
Butcher Boy thinks he'll be splitting the pot.
But I've seen what he's got and it isn't a lot.

Because, yeah, I had this mental image of TAI and FOB playing the most bizarre hand of strip poker EVER. No, Butcher, really, a pair of threes isn't going to beat anyone. Fold now, okay? We've already seen your tattoo'd ass, and we don't want your shorts, thanks.

That was before I had any wine, y'all.

YAY!

We didn't get tickets for Portland, but we're still crossing our fingers for the general sale.

[identity profile] asimplechord.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I might still try for Austin with the general sale, but that show will mean a day or two off work, so I'm just as happy to have the ticket for St. Louis in hand. :D

I was AMAZED at how fast they went, though. Seriously, I was sitting at my desk refreshing every 30 seconds until the link became active, and the moment it was active for me, they were already sold out.

Yay for St. Louis! Thats my hometown! Where are they playing?

Pageant is the name of the venue. I haven't looked into any details about it, but I assume it's a relatively small place?

[identity profile] minuet99.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... there's some good eats. It's in the Delmar Loop in university city. That's definitely my old stomping grounds.

Pageant isn't small (i don't think) but its not uber-large. I don't know capacity because I've never been there.

[identity profile] asimplechord.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Smaller than the Toyota Center, though? Verizon-sized?

Cool. You'll have to tell me where to go. :)

[identity profile] minuet99.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
http://www.thepageant.com/ says it seats 878 to 1000.

There's a GREAT sushi place in the Central west End, not terribly far away called Druken Fish. Has deep fried philly which is to die for.

What other cuisines do you like?? there are tons of resturants within walking distance of the pageant.

Thai. Anything spicy, really, and not so much with the red meat.

Speaking of sushi... Thursday? Or maybe next Tuesday?

The Pageant looks pretty awesome, actually. Smaller than Verizon, even. Floor tickets should be pretty cool, then. I'm totally excited. :D

Thai Country I think is the one I'm thinking of that's really good. There are several, but I think Thai Country is the best.

There's Saleem's where garlic is king - it's a Lebanese restaurant.

Sushi... Thursday or next Tuesday could work... Blue Fish House?

[identity profile] asimplechord.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
OK. 7pm-ish Thursday? That's tomorrow. Or Tuesday, whichever. Both are good for me. :)

I have no preference! you pick! I have no schedule. :-P

[identity profile] asimplechord.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Tomorrow, then! I'll see you there!

YAY for getting tickets!! :D

And for a weekend away! :D

I'm looking forward to it. I've only ever been to St.Louis for a job interview, so it'll be fun to look around. :)
