a million heartbeats all around you make it hard to sleep
Delayed squee:
When I got home at ~midnight Monday night, my copy of The Black Parade Is Dead was waiting on the doorstep. I opened the case - I couldn't not, right? - but it was too late to put the DVD in and watch at the proper volume, so I set it aside and admired the Death Mask. I got Mikeyway's design, which amuses me very much. I can't decide if he was trying to say "Fuck it, who thought of this? I don't care about some stupid masks" or "I am NOT GERARD" with his creepy mask.
Anyway. Last night when I got home, my copy of the new Alkaline Trio CD was also waiting, and I flailed for a minute, trying to decide which to listen to/watch first. TBPID won. (I'm listening to the AT album now. As an aside: they're going to be in Austin on a weeknight - as are The Hold Steady. That sucks so hard, because I'm not sure how often I can manage that trip and be coherent for work the next day, even without worrying about rising gasoline prices.)
There has already been much squee, but I have to say that I enjoyed listening to the Maxwell's show, but don't really need to watch it over and over again. I'll probably stick the DVD in and listen without paying attention to the screen next time. The Mexico City gig, though... I love the before-show ritual, and I am probably going to watch it again and again to see if Mikeyway managed his superstitious missed (but not deliberately so) high-five before the show. And to admire Bob's tricked-out rotating drum kits.
It is Wednesday, and the work week is more than half-way over.
We are officially being released from work at noon tomorrow to begin the Independence Day holiday early. Sadly, my experiment will require that I not avail myself of the opportunity to get the hell out of lab early. But that'll be four extra hours of vacation time, so maybe I can justify a trip to Austin after all. :)
We're grilling/picnicking with friends Friday and Saturday, and WARPED IS SUNDAY. Not even capslocking expresses my glee appropriately.
What're y'all doing?
ETA: So, when Black Gold say that this is Eric's last tour with PATD, does that mean Panic are going to find a new pianist to tour with them for the Australian tour, or for the rumored autumn swing through the US again? Have Brendon (or Jon?) play those parts rather than guitar whenever possible? Come up with new arrangements that are less keyboard-intensive?
