1. I completely blanked on ordinary_magic's last name when the registrar asked for my other party's name. Um... Potion Mistress? Yeah, no, I don't think her ID will have that on it. :)

2. Hadn't been to NOLA in years. Mmm, cafe au lait. (No) Open container laws. Jazz.

3. CNN Headline News was playing in the airport lounge today, and word usage struck me as a bit... I dunno... deceptive. In discussing the disappearance of honey bees and the effect that could have on agriculture, the reporter said some foods would "go away". Like it's a choice, they're going to go hide for a while, and when things are better, they'll come back. As if it's voluntary, not a logical, inevitable biological consequence of killing off the cross-pollinators.

I wonder, was there a reason the reporter used that phrase? Deliberately dumbing down? Or because they don't want to use words like "endangered" or "extinct". Don't want to rouse those crazy environmentalist and conservationists.

4. Today = the least nutritious meals ever. Breakfast: coffee. Lunch: coffee and an amaretto biscuit. Dinner: cafe au lait and a half-eaten order of beignets. Skipping the Overture dinner (it's starting right now, I think), but I'll head to the speechifying before going to the Snape Thing.

5. Happy SPN Day! There's something seriously wrong with me if, while editing HP fanfic in New Orleans to attend a Harry Potter convention, I'm simultaneously plotting more SPN/RPS.

6. The guy behind me at check-in is here for a dental conference. He was wondering what we were all here for, and was completely befuddled by the idea that we're all here for Harry Potter stuff without J. K. Rowling or the actors or anything. He asked what my role was, and I was like, "I write gay porn. And help around on a fanfiction archive sometimes." He had nothing more to say to me. HAHAHAHA!

Fandom is, as always, a strange and wonderful thing, and some people just don't get it.

I had Blazin' Buffalo Ranch Doritos for dinner last night, myself. Then had the biggest carbo crash I've experienced in years.

I have all sorts of thoughts that are tangled and muddled, and I haven't figured out how much interest anybody would have in them. The whole event was really slash-friendly (minus the one gender envy chick) and Snape-centric. :)
