OK, so I've been really quiet about politics. Texas doesn't hold its primary until March, so I'm watching the Super Tuesday polls (ha, how funny that it falls on Mardi Gras!) with interest.

But... this post over at thedailyshow pisses me off. Because I don't belong to that comm to get preached at about politics. I belong to that comm to read updates and get news about Jon Stewart and The A Daily Show.

It's not that I disagree. And John McCain is a sorta scary opportunist, better than Romney but less preferable than a Democratic candidate.

Barack Obama isn't much different from Hillary Clinton. Both are corporate friendly. He's less cosy with AIPAC than she is, but he's totally backed away from the Muslim community he used to represent in Chicago. Both want to expand the military. Their insurance reform plans could be interchanged and most people wouldn't notice - neither is single-payer.

But still. It pisses me off to go to a community about a TV satire and be told for whom I should vote. WITHOUT A CUT-TAG, even, so I couldn't just scroll on by. Shut the fuck up, chuckdarwin, or at least do it on your own journal, or with a cut-tag.

I'm registered independent, and I'm not allowed to vote today. That said, I think they're all pretty much the same. I wanted to throw thing at the screen this morning during a Clinton ad that said her opponents were taking money from special interest groups. She does too! grr...

If I were to vote today, I'd go with Obama. Even if he and she aren't that different, he doesn't make me want to smack him.

I know. And it's not that I want her to win - political dynasties are never a good thing, IMO. But the tone of the post and the fact that it was made at all just irk me.

Dude. That post pissed me off so much! I was hoping to see some people reaming him a new one, but, alas, nothing. He also posted that same post in the comm brits_americans, which has nothing to do with politics, except in cultural ways and how US/UK politics differ or are similar--and no one ripped him a new one there! And the sexist tone of so much of the agreement turned my stomach.

And, also, like Obama over Clinton, or whatever, that's anyone's right, but for Democrats to be so viciously antagonistic to a person who holds pretty much the exact same views becomes about hate and becomes personal, and immediately removes any supposition of rationality on the part of the other person in my eyes.

That disturbed me even more - I read some of the comments, and they were all laudatory of Obama and bitchy about Clinton, and they didn't see anything wrong with that crap being posted there. >:/

You can write in. It becomes a question of voting for someone you think can win and do a little vs. someone whose platform you actually agree with. I'm writing in Kucinich or Edwards in the primary, and if Nader runs, I'll seriously consider voting for him.

Either of them is better than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, right? And whoever gets elected isn't going to be able to make dramatic change, that's the nature of the checks-and-balances system. But I had sorta hoped that someone who wasn't such a friend of corporate handouts and the military-industrial complex would be elected.

It is truly frightening to try and figure out which is the lesser evil to vote for! I want options - but I don't want anyone telling me who to vote for - Like my union who gave my cell number out to the candiate they have endorsed. No!

I try to check lj on a regular basis, but after finding one reader who had stolen a bunch of the Breathe icons that chiakidark had made me and the latest lj manuevers, I just link now to my ij.

Can you believe that I was picked for the snarry_games!! I am still pinching myself!

How are things there? Sounds like you've seen some awesome bands! I think of you now when Austin City Limits comes on!

The writing is going - so many hours at work lately that I'm too tired to type anything creative! Hopefully that will ease off soon! I've started my story for the snarry_games but am still fleshing out the back story.
