drabble-type thing

[livejournal.com profile] angela_snape requested Snape, Kingsley, coffee. And I was totally incapable of ignoring the easy joke.

Deathly Hallows never happened, as far as this drabble is concerned. Snape's busy being a spy for the Order, and Kingsley's busy keeping an eye on the PM, mostly.

Kingsley Shacklebolt dropped into the chair opposite his contact, the sneer on his face worthy of its recipient. He leaned across the table to whisper, "Why here, Snape?"

"Would most wizards look for me at a Muggle establishment? Particularly one as vulgarly commercial as this one?" He gestured at the sign above their heads, which depicted a green siren with long, flowing hair.

Kingsley conceded the point.

"Excuse me a moment." Snape rose and approached the counter, presumably to place an order.

Kingsley couldn't hear the words that were exchanged when the cashier handed Snape a cardboard cup, but they earned an emphatic shake of Snape's head and a twitch of his free hand toward his wand.

The man was scowling, grinding his teeth when he returned.

"Degenerate. When I told him I didn't need room for cream, he asked if I take my coffee as I prefer my… companions."

"I beg your pardon?"

"Strong and black."

love it. XD

The worst coffee I ever had was at a Starbucks in London. Ran in there to escape the rain. Sheesh.

I've had some really bad coffee at Starbucks, too. The worrisome thing is that (here, anyway) there are Starbucks everywhere, and very few independent coffee shops. Even at work, in the hospital, all the coffee kiosks are affiliated with Starbucks (or Seattle's Best, which I thought was bought out by Starbucks). I had hoped that the phenomenon would not spread to Europe.
