inquiry

I have a question/favor to ask y'all. Just because I have a hard time seeing anything but stuff I want to change when I look at it.

Go back and look at the splinch-swap smut that was my first real attempt at fanfic.

Then look at Testing, a more recent offering from the same fandom, and at I'll just pretend, written in a separate fandom, but within the last month.

Has my writing style changed? Do you think it's just because of the fandom/characters involved? Am I losing my own writing style, allowing myself to be too influenced by spoken word and other authors?

I haven't read all the fics in question as yet, but I wanted to give a bit of a general answer.

It's not a bad thing to be influenced by other writers/media--as long as you're aware of it. I think it can give more depth and favor to your voice in some cases.

When I read your writing, I find that you have a solid, clear voice.

:)

Thanks! I just noticed it because all the stuff I've written lately is not in the Potter 'verse, and it definitely sounds different. Time to get back to writing HP fic, methinks. :)

It could be a difference in style because of the different demands of that fandom. :)

But I'm all for you writing more HP :D
