is that really a srs question?

New Student splattered crystal violet all over the sink, floor, and cabinet this weekend, and didn't clean it up. (That was the twitpic from yesterday.) He sent me an email saying it had happened, and asked if he should try to scrub it up.

Uh... YES? If he'd sprayed it with 70% ethanol or some methanol when it happened, it would have wiped clean, or mostly so. Now that it's had all weekend to set? Housekeeping is probably going to have to strip the floors. And still, he asked me today if he should bother cleaning the sink. Um... YES? IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?

Seriously, why does an adult need to ASK if he should clean up his own mess?

Sort of. Mostly it seemed like he was perfectly fine making a mess in a common area (that extended to a not-common area) and then just leaving it that way because it's a lab, and labs get dirty. Which they DO. But we don't need to help the natural entropy along!
