I have thinky thoughts, but I'd rather ask your opinion(s)

Because AFYCSO was on repeat on my iPod all afternoon...

stay where I can see you / douse the lights

putting out the lantern / find your own way back home

What do the differences in phrasing and word choice tell us about the people who penned them?

DISCUSS, PLEASE. (WITH PICTURES, IF YOU SO CHOOSE.)

I have, in my head (where it's useful), a whole series of fics based off of Folkin' Around--largely all in the way you read the lines:

Putting out the lantern=putting out a lantern
Putting out the lantern=putting out the flame in the lantern
Find your own way back home=leave here and find your way home (which is not here)
Find your own way back home=come back here, which is home, but I'm not going to help you.

Maybe that's all just me though. Who knows.
