I've had some really bad coffee at Starbucks, too. The worrisome thing is that (here, anyway) there are Starbucks everywhere, and very few independent coffee shops. Even at work, in the hospital, all the coffee kiosks are affiliated with Starbucks (or Seattle's Best, which I thought was bought out by Starbucks). I had hoped that the phenomenon would not spread to Europe.
