Got a call from spouse as I was leaving work: our neighbor's house was on fire.

It's out now, and it didn't spread. Their house is smokey; there's a hole in the roof, the attic ruined. The neighbors are away, so they don't even know it happened.

We can't drive down the street, had to sneak under police/fire company tape to get into our house.



I can't even imagine how worrisome it was to see smoke billowing from the end of the street and think it might be our house afire.
