M'kay, this is going to be all superficial, because I didn't keep a set list and didn't bring a camera, and I only knew one Warship song and a couple of Leathermouth songs, even though I'm pretty well acquainted with Reggie And The Full Effect's repertoire.

+ Warship. It's hard for me to take a band seriously when the lead singer wears a Lakers t-shirt, so I had to close my eyes and rock out. The only song of theirs that I knew was Lousy Horoscope. But apparently they've got a new album coming out soon? And they did a couple of songs from it. I liked Wounded Paw. I think that was the name, anyway.

+ Leathermouth were up next. Lots of people (except the guys behind me, who were very vocal about only being there to see MC Chris) went crazy when Frank Iero and James Dewees came out to set up. (All white clothes, uniform but for the letter on the t-shirts spelling out MOUTH, I like.) They all got busy doing their things, and then Frank just sprawled on the floor, crossed his feet in front of the kit, and waited for everything to get started. Oh, Frank. I'm not the world's best fan - I only have two Leathermouth songs, Murder Was The Case and What's A Pulse Got To Do With It (this last, they didn't scream sing), but I enjoyed the other songs they performed, all the same. Actually, what I really liked about Leathermouth was that a) Frank spent a lot of time with his back to the crowd - I'm not sure if it was a deliberate move to keep the focus off him and on the band as a whole [since they had to nix the singing in masks idea], or if it was to make the singing a more personal experience for him, or what; and b) the songs are angry, not pretty and shiny, but they're honest, and he's screaming about all the things that we never like to talk about, that we don't like to acknowledge, the things that we feel ashamed to remember or to feel or to want. 5th period massacre*cough*

Also, there was much thrashing all over the place, and the white pants? FILTHY by the end of the set.

And maybe this is just a man thing, but seriously? ENOUGH WITH THE SPITTING ON EACH OTHER.

I was amused, however, when Frank managed to pull the bassist (I think) down onto the floor with him, and wrapped a leg around him, and the guy just kept on playing, like nothing was happening.

Tossing cigarettes out to the crowd? Stuffing them into his mouth and then *spitting them* out at the crowd? Um, okay, nicotine's always welcome, I guess.

+ MC Chris. If you missed him on Warped, I *really* hope you see him on this tour.

+ Reggie And The Full Effect. I could go on and on about how awesome James Dewees is, but I'll just leave you with this mental image:

James started the show by stripping off his man-pris and shirt to reveal... a black and pink Hannah Montana tank top and hot pink shorts over longer boxers, and acted like he was just waking up, rubbing his face, scratching his balls, doing all that good stuff. I just. Reggie. :) Actually, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus was a topic often discussed (read: ridiculed) during the show.

What else?

- Frank Iero playing bass will never not be awesome (even if the bass in question is nearly as tall as he is). I'd say he should do it all the time, but then Mikeyway'd have to find something else to do, so.

- Fran of Warship on drums? Prefer him there, actually.

- They were using amps with MCR stenciled on the side. *vbg*

- Reggie performed songs from pretty much every album, lots of older stuff, but a fair amount from Last Stop: Crappy Town. Also? Them coming back out in Seattle grunge get-ups for the encore was pretty sweet.

- In the end, management had to tell Reggie their time was up and shut 'em down.

random observations (mostly Frank-ish):

+ Frank Iero was out walking his dog behind the venue when I arrived. His ridiculously tiny dog. He was talking on his cell phone, and I have serious issues about intruding on not-public time, even beyond my fourth wall issues, so I didn't harass him.

+ I'm curious about the meaning associated with the American flags with the big circle with a line through it, which were drapped over all the amps for Leathermouth's set. I get that it's political/social, and I've been to the Leathermouth web site, so I know it's all of a piece, but I don't go to the S//C forum, so I'm uninformed as to the symbolism beyond the obvious. (The flags were another thing the dicks behind me were being rude about.)

+ The fake hair part of James's costume? NICE.

+ I am not a fan of Frank's mustache. It's a little too Hitler-ish for my taste. The short haircut's pretty sweet, though.

+ Has Frank added to the ink on his neck? To the "jinx removed" tattoo? It looks bigger than I remember, but I have not studied his tattoos extensively. His right arm also looks like he's gotten more work done.
